lol i love dog soldiers :)

"where is spoon??? there is no spoon" :)

To many classic one liners in that film...especially the bit when he has intestiens pulled out and the dog runs off with them and the soldier goes to him, i am craving a keebab :)

WTF? A movie thread with a movie listed frequently that I've never heard of (Dog Soldiers). I'll have to check that out.

There really hasn't been a great werewolf horror movie made yet. I'd put American Werewolf In London on the top of the list, but it's as much comedy as horror. Ginger Snaps was cool, but it's more an alegory for teen angst (or menstration, or something).

If somebody was going to make another comedic werewolf movie, I think the plot should involve an astronaut who finds out he's been infected just as he's heading out for a trip to the moon. That would be pretty damn amusing.

I like most of the ones listed, as I love any transformation movie...

Cursed turned out to be a funny local legend... we all went to see it but were drunk... and afterward none of us agreed on any particular scene expect that the answer to all things lies in the pie knife.

I still like it, but I'm not sure I call it a good movie, just one I like.

Like Hondra, I've never seen Dog Soldiers... must hunt down.

What would qualify as a "GREAT "werewolf movie ?

American Werewolf in London had a couple of spooky, jumpy scenes
that startled me when i saw was a little kid.
Loved the special effects and makeup which the Howling came along
and matched those effects. America Werewolf in
Paris was somewhat cartoonish. But had a good mixture of dark comedy
and wolve-action in it.
Dog Soldiers still takes the top spot. Great action throughout the entire
film , from beginning to end, and practically had me thinking how
i would best combat and survive a host of werewolves trying to
surround and shred me to pieces.

That movie idea with the astronaut becoming an infected werewolve
sounds very much like the Man-Wolve character from the Spiderman
comics. John Jameson was an astronaut and the son of newpaper editor
James Jonah Jameson. John discovered a rare stone on the Moon and
he decided to wear the stone as a necklance but it somehow became
permanently grafted to his skin and periodically gave him the
transformations of a man-wolve and he terrorized the city in this form
and had several battles with Spiderman.

i agree with your comments of Ginger Snaps.
i have to put down Dog Soldiers, American Werewolf in London,
The Howling as the " great "ones i've seen.

please check out Dog Soldiers.

If you use newsgroups any I just downloaded a copy of Dog Soldiers for a friend and it played well. Sure torrents have it too. I actually loved the 1st Ginger Snaps regardless of the 'teen angst' I totally loved their idea of morbid photography and helped compel me down that road when I first saw the movie.

I had such high hopes for Cursed, and while it wasn't the worst werewolf movie, the CGI was rather bad, I find the transformation to be 1 of the highlights of werewolf movies and and all the werewolf sequences seemed weak. I was also a bit turned off by Ricci and her bro never actually transforming too.

I can't believe I forgot about Wolf, I have it on VHS need to download a DVDRIP of it. That was a great movie through and through.

Dog Soldiers had everything I wanted from a werewolf movie except the actual transformation sequence and I figure budget limited that so instead of doing it crappy they had clever was of getting around actually showing it which I appreciated.

Im a 80's baby so I grew up with the Howling series and it was The Werewolf series to watch, they did have some misses here and there but overall it was great, and got into the mythology well.

Been watching some Paul Naschy(Waldemar Daninsky) Werewolf Movies from Spain. Several of them have come out on DVD and they look great and are totally uncut with all the gore and nudity intact. Saw Werewolf Shadow tonight and really enjoyed it.

Here's some good ones that I've seen.
