http://www.noonprop8.com/

I want to thank all the people - especially those from out of state - who care so much about my personal business and feel it is their right to determine who I am allowed to love or marry. I feel guilty about all the attention because frankly I don't care who they marry or what they do in their bedroom.

The way the straight people flaunt their marriage lifestyle, even though half end in divorce it's sort of hard for me to avoid exposure to it. I mean they push it in my face all the time.

Still, even though I find the idea of marrying outside of one's sex abhorrent l don't see any reason to deny straight people their right to heterosexual marriage. It's not my fault they are straight and they can't help their orientation. I believe they should enjoy the same civil rights as everyone else. :-)

And I believe I should have those same civil rights, and that anyone voting to deny any group of people the same civil rights as everyone else in America needs to seriously examine their reason for destroying the constitution this country was founded on - Equal Rights for ALL!!

No matter where you live please join with us to DEFEAT "Proposition 8" - hate legislation designed to remove the recently won right to same sex marriage in CA.

If you are a CA resident please vote NO on 8.

PLEASE DONATE if you can - this initiative will have world wide effects on the future of gay marriage. You do not have to live in California to help financially.

The right wing religious zealots led by the Mormon church (well known for the sexual exploitation of underage girls) have been pumping MILLIONS into passing this anti-civil rights hate legislation. The majority of the money is coming from OUT OF STATE religious groups.

Gay rights support was ahead until recently when we have been out-spent about 3 to 1 by out of state interests hell bent on telling Californian's how to live our lives. Your help is desperately needed.

Please join myself and Jessica in supporting the rights of ALL Americans!

Hugs,
TS Jamie :-)

"No"?

Is that your vote on Prop 8, or is that your response to the OP?

If it's 1, YAY!

If it's 2, WTF are you doing at this web site?

I'm all for it just don't call it marriage. Commixture may be more appropriate. IMO

Same Sex marriage in Canada was voted in with the Liberals in power, and then the motion to examine the law again was defeated with a conservative government. This really shouldn't be an issue anymore....anywhere.

And no Jonny, it should be "marriage"...same as any other.

Since G-d hasn't hit Sulu or Ellen with a lightning bolt in the past few months, I think He's ok with calling it "marriage", so you should be too!

What is the current state of this proposition? Likely to not pass (which is what we want)? I am hearing a lot of battles of this and I even saw some people on the street corner posting up signs to vote no. The advertisements on voting yes on the proposition are radiculous saying "people will be forced to accept gay marriage, they will be lawsuits, churches will be sued and lose their rights..." A bunch of BS in my opinion. Just the typical politician way of using "fear" so people don't do what is right.

Hmmm....Think Different but Love the Same?

Needs work

Not too surprising given Apple's policies and Disney's (which Steve Jobs is the biggest shareholder of), but stil nice for them to go public.

The current state of Prop 8 is that it's likely not to pass - because the Utah based Mormon church has pumped over 17 million into the anit-gay/human rights campaign, along with the right wing hate group Focus on the Family, another out of state group trying to manipulate OUR election.

The anti gay crowd has amassed the largest fortune ever spent on a Proposition, and if far out spending the pro same sex marriage view. The last figure I had was 40 million to pass and 16 million for the NO vote. BTW - WE are the NO's - we do NOT want the proposition to pass as it will strip us of our existing rights.

I never thought I would see the USA voting across the nation to REMOVE civil rights. Our future here is siply scary.

Sadly it appears the religious zealots are going to win. And even more sadly it appears to me the whole world is falling into a religious abyss where if you aren't a muslim they want to kill you, or if you aren't an evangelical Christian they want to force you to follow their doctrine based upon ignorant people wandering around a desert barefoot thousands of years ago.

People it's the 21st centruy. We've been to the MOON - doncha think maybe it's time to evolve our humanity instead of repressing each other and killing each other over archaic religious beliefs that even rudimentary science has proved is false.

Sigh,
TS Jamie :-)

Marriage as sanctioned by "the church" and indeed all religions, grew about simply as a matter of property rights. This is why civil governments got involved, especially in Europe as many kings/governments didn't like the idea of the Pope/Church in Rome making decisions regarding local issues. Remember the Church of England was borne out of Henry VIII's wish to get rid of his then current wife (Catherine of Aragon), and the Pope standing in his way.

Marriage is about a man and woman becoming "as one" (so goes the religious meaning), but as far as property goes it controls what is taxed, how it is taxed, and who can inherit and at what tax. This is why divource is also complicated, as the state must now decide which person in a marriage gets what property.

Remember that until rather recently, women and children were the sole and exclusive property of their husbands/fathers. Anything either had or was to come belonged to the man. Probably still is that way in some parts of the world.

Marriage as a visable and social proof of two person's affection for each other is a rather new concept, historically speaking. Prior to this, marriage was a serious business, handled more like a M&A transaction, especially when one or both persons had any sort of money and or property.

State laws may vary, but two persons can be married in a religous ceremony, but weather or not that marriage is legally valid is another matter. However all civil marriages in the US are vaild, regardless if one has a religious ceremony.
