Nachiket Barve

Nachiket Barve known for his fabric manipulation once again brought a touch of superior fashion geometry to the forefront for Spring/Summer 2009 at Lakme Fashion Week. Creating clusters of flowers, working with cuts, panels and seams, Nachiket played with contrasts in beautiful rich shades. His colour story was vast with azure, purple, framboese, cerulean, sap green, mango, crimson gold, flesh, ecru and chalk for shot silk organza, chiffon Lurex, tissue georgette and dupion coming together effortlessly. Nachiket Barve once again created a collection which could give the Indian as well as the western woman the confidence to make a great fashion statement throughout the season and even many years later.

Nikasha Tawadey

"Shisheer" was the name of Nikasha Tawadey's Spring/Summer 2009 collection at Lakme Fashion Week and it was the "Big Look" that the designer was advocating. Describing it as free flowing, long and voluminous with dropped shoulder seams and minimum structuring, Nikasha's line was the result of inspirations that were drawn from the late 19th century Bengal artistes. Using hand woven fabrics like muslin, georgette, chiffon, khadi silk and mulmul in beautiful shades of lavender, terracotta, rose, pebble, grey, moss green, egg, brown, off-white and cream - the designer kept the colour story muted. The "Shisheer" collection by Nikasha Tawadey was indeed "The Big Look", which was totally free flowing and ultra comfortable that will keep the wearer stylishly cool during the hot summer days and nights.

Krishna Mehta

It was a stylish “ Sunrise in the Desert Sands” as Krishna Mehta titled her collection and the beautiful colours of the desert came alive for her Spring/Summer 2009 look at Lakme Fashion Week. Colours have never been more vibrant than they were on the design canvas of Krishna as she wove her creative magic with poster red, cobalt blue, yellow, green, iridescent orange and tones of violet for a men’s and women’s line that was pure prêt. The highlights featured show stoppers including actor Samir Dattani in a silk sherwani and TV turned Bollywood star, Prachi Desai in a red long chiffon gown. Her was a collection which was hand woven and embellished but with western silhouettes that will appeal to the connoisseurs of fashion and will surely win for Krishna Mehta many accolades as the creations will be great sellers all over the world.

Narendar Kumar

To the beat of DJ Mathew's throbbing live music and the acrobatic dance number by Rajesh and his troupe in black leotards; the Sunsilk and Narendra Kumar hair style and fashion fantasy at the Lakme Fashion Week; was one of the most exciting style presentations of the season. To match the trendy hairstyles created by Global hair expert of Sunsilk from UK, Andrew Barton, which featured Curls, Straight and Layers; Narendra dreamt up his latest label "Nari Nari" aimed at the trendy young women of the country.
