I ran across this story in Gawker, and it made me think of Jennifer Paris.

I guess most girls aren't having big problems, maybe clients getting only half an hour instead of one, but it did say that the $1000+/hr. girls are just not making it.

I have no idea how Jen could cut her prices if she is having problems without sending a message she doesn't want to send. On the other hand, some of us guys who make < $100k/year might actually have a shot at an hour with her, now.

I can't speak for JP's finances, but if she's smart (And I'm sure that she is), she's got her ducks in a row and will ride this out rather well.

They say that such professions are 'recession proof' akin to addiction like alcohol and tobacco (In fact, I just read a rather interesting article that said that now was the time to buy into diversified addiction industries such as Altria, Diageo, etc.), but in a time of no-money it is...well...a time of no-money.

Providers, as in any business, will do what they have to do to keep the books in the black, but slashing prices and having fire sales is counter-productive. High end gurls will still see their high end clients, but maybe not so often or for shorter dates. Maybe they'll just give up Le Bec Fin for the Independence Brew Pub to make ends meet.

Further: Having read the article, I still laugh at the idea that Spitzer was paying $1k an hour. Anyone who's read all the tripe and done the math can conclude that Ashley Dupree was in the $300 range. Not cheap, but hardly the diamond-studded pussy that the media portrays her as.

LOL, there is one thing that a recession cannot change, and that is a mans desire to be with a beautiful girl. If every man died tomorrow, then Jennifer might have a problem.

Christ, the post office is laying people off. That's a first in its entire 233 year history.

I'll bet if the casino was a whorehouse, nobody would be getting layed off. Getting layed and getting off yes, but not layed off.

The article is bullshit. I know just about every house in NY and they are all slow.

The US dollar now equals 2.2 Brazilian Reais- up from August where it was at 1.5 Reias.

JP or no JP, one thousand US dollars would currently buy you 10 high class brazilian TS (Carla, Thais, Barbara-caliber) rather than 6, only 2 months ago.

Good for Jen (no sarcasm).

I remember hearing people say that gambling is recession proof for a while, but I heard something on NPR that's making me question that. Vegas has changed a lot since the last big recession (70s)--consumers now have closer Indian gaming and Vegas has become more upscale and expensive--it is yet to be seen how well it will weather a recession, so like someone else said, addictive products are a safer bet.

It'll be interesting to see how sex workers do, although I can't imagine tgirls doing any different than genetic girls.
