Raquela is a “ladyboy” - from the Philippines who dreams of escaping the streets of Cebu City for a fairy tale life in Paris. In order to make her dreams come true, she turns from prostitution toward the more lucrative business of Internet porn. Her success as a porn star brings new friends, including Valerie, a ladyboy in Iceland, and Michael, the owner of the website Raquela works for. Valerie helps Raquela get as far as Iceland. From there, Michael offers her a rendezvous in Paris. Will Paris be everything she dreamed of? And will Michael turn out to be her Prince Charming?

I would be interested to know what people think of this film - I wonder to what extent it is a genuine documentary and to what extent it is contrived to create a tangiable story.

I would imagine some people on here are more informed about the origins and process of this story, so please air your views here.

What 98 views and no one has ever heard of this thing? I would have thought this movie was likely to have a major positive contribution towards the TS lifestyle.

I've heard of it but it hasn't played where I live so I haven't seen it. The film is fiction but I believe the goal of the director was a realistic view of the world that Philippine ladyboys inhabit.

I used to chat with the girl who plays Raquela a couple of years ago. She used the name Minerva then and used to post on the asiants.com forum under a different name that I don't remember but it sounded like the name of a Russian submarine. That's her sense of humor. She's very smart and fun to chat with. When the movie was done she was going to have her online pix removed because she wanted to move into real films and didn't want her sexy pix following her. The film was featured at the Feb '08 Berlinale Film Festival and I think it won an award. Here's one of MInerva's pix that's still floating around cyberspace.
