I went to HK last Thursday with my brother to go sightseeing and to go shopping. My flight is around at 5am so I had to leave the house by 3, well basically I didn't go to sleep because I got so excited. Anyway so I get to Hong Kong at around 7 and I went on queue to get stamped at the Immigration. At the window there's this guy who asked me all sorts of questions. Everything was okay until he looked at my passport and he looked at me. He started to mumble something in Chinese, he sounded so rude and then I saw the police coming towards me and they took me to me to their office. I was seated in a really small place with a bunch of Arab and Indian guys. I was so tired and hungry and they made me wait there for 2.5 hours. I approached a Chinese police woman there and asked her if there's anyway I could talk to my brother who's waiting for me at the baggage claim area. The rude bitch told me to sit down and said that all my brother had to do is wait. She was also shouting and gesturing as though I'm gonna start a commotion when all I did was ask politely. So after hours of waiting a police officer finally interviewed me. He was nice and he asked me what I'm doing in HK. I told him I was a tourist and I showed him all my travel documents, my cash and my credit cards. He apologized for the inconvenience that the guy on the immigration window brought me. I asked him if the reason for me being held at the office is because I'm a transsexual and he just kept quiet. It's obvious that I was being discriminated based on my gender. I know most asian ts escorts go work in Hong Kong but it's bad to treat every ts woman that come to their country like that. It took them another 30 minutes just to release me and I spent 3 hours on that place. It was traumatizing. I travel often and I even went to America without encountering any problems and I couldn't believe it would happen to me in HK. It got worst once when I got to the hotel. The people there are so mean they don't know how to use courtesy. And it was like that almost everywhere. I went there expecting to eat good authentic Chinese food but all I've eaten tasted like crap. The only okay ones that I ate are the overpriced food at the Disney and Ocean park themepark. And a store sold me a pair of shoes with the wrong size and they did that on purpose just to get money of of me wtf!!!! I'm never gonna go back there again ever!!!

Hong Kong is shit. I've been there and it's just dull and crap.

I had the exact same experience at LAX. They held me for 4 hrs, every time I told them I had a connection to Hawaii to make, the rude bitch told me to sit down and they'll get to me. I have a visa to live and work in the USA and they put me in a room with Iraqi's, Iranians and Africans (nothing against those people ... but I don't think I fit the same profile).
After 4 hrs the supervisor came out, apologised and sent me on my way. I asked if the original person who held me had something against either British, whites or men ... she wouldn't answer.

It can happen anywhere - international travel, it sucks!

damn that sucks. ive been there many times and was never treated like that. The foods better in taiwan, but HK is ok. But seeing that your filipino (? yes?) that would have alot to do with it there. All the maids in hong kong are filipino. The housekeepers, the nannies, etc, all work for about 2-3 USA dollars a day there, if that, and one day a month all the nannies get off and they all hang out in this park. So im guessing they musta thought you were a maid or nanny and didnt give you any respect based on your race. the chinese defiently look down on flips. Thats just my guess so dont hold me to it ! (Id treat you good though)

I really think it's because I'm a ts. There were other filipinos who were in line before me and the guy let them through except for me. I was dressed really decently and I speak very good English. I was being assertive to the guy and I still kept my composure but when he had me sent to the immigration office I wanted to f-ing curse him.

I'm sorry to hear that Carla. Thank God I have not encountered any problem like that when I travel and go there. Even LAX was courteous enough to bump me on top of the line due to a connecting flight. I hope I don't ever get to experience discrimination when traveling. The long flights alone sure makes you wanna strangle someone upon landing! lol

I know JFK will hold people who looks middle eastern from experience like they did my friend.

That sounds pretty bad.

I have the perfect solution for you Carla,

Next Trip, you come to Daly City......Will be like Home away from home, a hop skip and jump away from CHINA TOWN, and a built in tour guide.

I warn you though, the tour guide may ask to strip search you both before and after......He's just doin his job though.

girl, like what i have told you, it's because that you are a ts, and it shows that your sex on your travel document is written as Male, it's what i have been wanting for the Philippine government to give transgender people the right to change their name and sex legally, that for sure has been a problem for me too. Plus another reason is that tons of Filipina tgirls go on to HongKong to escort and a lot of them have been caught and you being a ts, even if you're there on a holiday, they'd still suspect that you are a "working girl" i know, prejudice, stereotype, judgement. we cannot get away with that on this planet earth. If only our country would give our rights... if only our country will hear our voice... that's why i flew away and seek better oppurtunities here in the USA. i can change my name and gender legally on the documents.

..they look down on mainlanders. the mainlanders arent as 'hip' and refinded as the hong kong crowd. the funny thing is, the hong kong chinese think theyre hot shit cuz they speak cantonese, while its mandarin on the mainland, and now that china is this huge emerging economy, anyone thats rich and investing in china, speaks mandarin. or is learning it. All the weathly people I know are teaching their kids mandarin, some as young as 3 years old. The cantonese are getting left behind lol

It's the sex on my passport, it still says M and my name there is still my "male" name. There is no way for me to change that here in the Philippines. The laws here are strict and well because I live in a very closed minded catholic country.

There are many TS women in the US who got the hell out of the Philippines by becoming a nurse and getting recruited to work in the United States. Filipina nurses are in demand, you will potentially make a decent salary and get legal status. Importantly, in the US, you can change your documents to reflect reality. And you might even meet an American doctor who'll sweep you off your feet.

The US is NOT a catholic country. It is christian though. I like it here. You would perhaps prefer to live in saudia arabia?? Or perhaps north korea, where this no religious practice allowed. I hear they are lookig for a new CEO of the country. The job come with perks such ad $600 bottles of cognac which you can drink while watching your citizens starve. Bottom line, if you don't like it here, you don't have to stay.....

Was that before or after we altered the pledge to have "under god" in it?

OK, one of the ammendments reads "congress shall pass no law favoring or establishing one religion over another" or something like that. Go look it up if you like, but it does NOT state that there is to be a separation of church and state.

And, our country was still founded on Judeo-Christian values and Freedom Of religion is NOT the same as Freedom FROM religion. For that you can still live in cuba china or north korea. Cuba is still taking applications for a CEO too, but they have an inside man you'd have to get past first... :P

wow, my post count is currently at 472, that was the displacement in CI of my 68 DVC (before I had it overhauled) 8)

I think you answered that one for me ;)

What makes our country great is that it isn't a christian based country, no religion is superior over the rest.

Not even the one whose followers founded the system itself.

Although I will agree that, historically, theory and reality are two different things-- I take that to mean one of those "do as I say, not as I do" scenarios.

We almost did not get the LOC because our politicians thought no one would want the books of an atheist (Jefferson- who afaik never actually said he didn't believe in God).

What??? It says "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof". However, let me reiterate that part "respecting an establishment of religion" which is very much a prohibition on having any state sponsored religion (hence the separation). I think where you're getting mixed up is the argument that it should not apply to the states even through the 14th amendment. However, you would not get very far with that argument either.

Oh and it most certainly is also a freedom FROM religion. Sorry to break this news to you but a lot of the people who theorized many of the legal principals we base our constitution on thought the idea of a guy in the sky to be a joke (aka they were atheist or at the very least agnostic). The idea is that you are free to believe what you wish and so am I, but we should not use the government to enforce or distribute any religious belief system. In my opinion organized religion is a bad joke with a history of ignorance and fear mongering in an effort to control people.

You suffer from what I have found out affects a vast number of people, especially younger ones, that being a lack of knowledge of the intracacies of the English language.

One of the nuances that seems to sail far over your head is that when multiple clauses are present in an imperative sentence, the latter clauses take precedence over the earlier ones. In this particular case the clause prohibiting the free exercise thereof, is MORE important than the earlier clause. Same thing with the 10th ammendmentwhere the people are mentioned AFTER the states.

What have they been teaching in schools the past 20 years???

Actually I study this full time for my degree, and after reading your post I can tell you get your sad little misinformed position from listening to religious zealot neo-cons. First of all you didn't even know what the Amendment stated, with your "congress shall pass no law favoring one religion over the other" lol. Secondly if one piece of the Amendment was more important than the other then it would make pointless the anti-establishment inclusion.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion..." was and is the guard against state sponsored religion (the thing you said does not exist in the constitution). "...or prohibit the free exercise thereof..." speaks to your right to worship whatever imaginary friend you wish, or none at all. One does not trump the other in that format. There is also the legal principal that all parts of a statute or law must be given effect or purpose. Class for today is concluded, I hope you now feel a little less ignorant.

PS- Intricacies is how you spell it, not "intracacies" k thx. I know you old folk resist technology, but a simple spell checker would work wonders for you.

You are definitely wrong here hence the separation of church and state. Ignorant people saying this is a "Christian" country are part of the reason it's going ot crap. The current "Christian" leaders are doing a great job aren't they?!

I love this argument about how the USA is Christian yet our government and the supposed religious party (read: Republicans) are about as far from folloing the teachings of Jesus as they could possibly be.

You are clueless......

That is terrible! I have traveled alot outside the US and I have yet to come across that problem. I think the weirdest thing that happened to me alot was when the men would ask me if I was from Brazil obviously assuming I was a TS then being very sexual towards me as if I was there for their pleasure.
I hope the experience will not be bad for me as it was for you as Im heading to Hong Kong next month!

I also do travel to Hong Kong often and my first time to visit to Hong Kong the immigration officer ask me if theres a typological error in my passport because it says that im a male. I told the immigration officer(by the way his hot guy) that im a genetically and technically a male, im a pre op male to female transexual. But the immigration officer wouldnt believe and ask me to show any IDs or documents showing that im really a male. The only ID I have is my Social Security ID but it doesnt say my sexuality in there. He checked it but he said its doesnt confirm that im a male. Then I just told him if he want I can show my cock to him. He got shock and suddenly stamped my passport and let me in. He even said you can enter Hong Kong now madam and thank you.

By the way in Philippines you can change your passport sexuality from male to female but kinda long process. I have many transsexual friends who have female passport now legally.
