Hilary's about to become a historical footnote. Lieberman already is. The difference btween them (aside from the obvious) is that Lieberman no longer has pull from any direction. He won't even be an effective lobbyist for Likkud anymore. He burned his bridges.

A real liberal doesn't give a shit what you do for fun as long as nobody's getting forced or coerced into something they don't want to be a part of. Neither does a real conservative for that matter. The shriek of "I don't like that so you can't have it!" is extremist & usually from the reactionaty side of the political spectrum. "I want that so you have to have it!" is the same kind of extremist shriek & usually from the radical side. Sometimes they're interchangable, as are the extremist positions.

Moreover, Benedict Arnold was a traitor. But he did his treachery in secret, or so he thought, until he got caught. Lieberman was very open in his actions and very clear in his speech that he was stepping across party lines because he thought McCain was the best choice for the country.
