Bill Maher's show is funny. And often humor is a way to speak the truth. From my understanding there is a lot more conservative media out there than liberal. You have people like Rush Limbaugh, who urged his listeners here in Ohio to break voting laws, and register as Democrats to vote agains Hillary. Yet I bet he believes that his party represents higher moral values, than Democrats.

But Bill Maher's show has many funny moments. The Democratic governor from Virginia, I forget his name, said that if he had his way, he would put an apostrophe behind of the O in Obama's name to make people think he was Irish! O'Bama in 08!

Love the show! The best part is the guests he has on the panel every week- very diverse (usually). But he can come across as a bit of a tool, especially when it comes to religion. Still, he says what no one else is saying, and with real conviction.

I love this show... though the original Politically Incorrect before he went to network was a MUCH better format. I hate that he got his format contracted out from under him.

Back then it was four guests for most of the hour, with him more moderating and less pontificating. Made for a better show, as it hid his dick side a bit more.

That said, I can love a guy who is a bit of a dick if he's usually right, or at least funny about his wrong. I've been waiting for the new season for so long... wish I still had folks to watch with... much more fun that way.

O'Reilly is the greatest prick to ever be on television. i watch Real Time on youtube here in Ireland. its good to know there are sane americans as Fox News is the only real american news channel we get here. and its so right wing it should have a nazi symbol beside its name!!

I like the newer show better, cause he can get more graphic and include some sexual humor. But the old show had some great moments due to the combination of guests. One I never forgot had Rev Jerry Falwell, the founder of "The Moral Majority", and Rick James. Thier both gone now, so that makes that particular show even more of a classic.

Justawannabe
09-03-2008, 08:31 AM
His first HBO show was just as raw as the present one... he had some really wild stuff to say.

But yeah, he had some really fabulous guests back in the day. The conservatives he had were move outspoken and not outnumbered more often than not. That is what I think was lost, it used to be a political discussion forum for both sides... it's become a place conservatives get hammered on.

I can definitely get behind hondarobot's assessment of Maher v. Stewart. Maher seems a little too arrogant at times, and sometimes only seems to understand issues in a superficial way. I think the conservatives can defend themselves against him because he can be more crass and rude than informed. I think Stewart is harder for them to deal with, because he can stand toe to toe and just bash them with logic and their own contradictions. I still watch every episode of Real Time, but I probably wouldn't want to meet Maher. Can't wait for "Religulous" to open in October.

I used to be a fan of Dennis Miller, but Miller changes his stripes based on who is signing his checks.

I agree that Stewart shows a depth of understanding that surpasses most comedians, but I never got the impression that Maher wasn't right there as well.

The worst thing about "Real Time" is Maher's audience who are a bunch of mindless stoners. I haven't seen trained seals that good since the last time I went to Sea World. Maher himself seems embarrassed by them at times. My vote? Not funny.

How weird is it that Bill Maher and Ann Coulter are drinking buddies? I wonder if they've ever, you know, did it.

No, Ann Coulter's an old spinster who just bangs it for Sean Hannity. Besides, that adam's apple is no guarantee she still has what Bill Maher craves. Arianna Huffington, on the other hand,...

I never thought Bill Maher had such high standards for poontang. I figure when 4:20 rolls around he'd bang anything he could get his hands on. She also seems like a dysfunctional broad that would have a hard time holding down a man so maybe they're made for each other. You don't find it odd that him and Coulter are such good buddies?

phobun

You don't find it odd that him and Coulter are such good buddies?
That probably dates back to the time when Maher used to be the token conservative writing for Playboy, and Coulter used to be the token man doing drag as Phyllis Schlafly.

I doubt anything is going on between Ann Coulter and Bill Maher... he just isn't masculine enough for her. If anything, she's a faghag to him.

Well I'm just glad he's back.

It's been a long time without him.

No doubt the boy is left wing... but hardly commie. No funding for the arts, be responsible for what you eat, buy you own health care... all things he says fairly frequently in interviews I've watched.
