Avast = anti virus

VLC = one of the best video players out. Great because it works with nearly everything yet you don't need to install codex.

Comodo = Firewall, A little hard to get the hand of but pretty good once you know what you are doing.

Cobian = backing stuff up.

Utorrent = best torrent software out.

Blender = Best 3d modeling software out and free. I'm using it for Oblivion at the moment.

Gimp = Best app to work on images and free

CDBurnerXP = best app to rip cds, burn cds, and make ISOs. Its free also

KeePass = Use this to store passwords

7zip = best zip program

NotePad++ = A replacement for notpad. I used it to write code also. You can define syntax with it.

What I need now is a good image viewer that can handle thousands of images. A comic book reader. A pod catcher other than itunes. And maybe a meida player.

I was using Media Portal for my media player before my last computer died. This was pretty good so I'll probably go batch to that if I don't find something better.

For a comic reader, I use this one. There are probably better ones out there, but I like this!

I use VLC player for media, excellent all-round player with few if any codec issues. For images, I use Google's Picasa software.

I tried comodo for a while. I found it to be a resource hog at times, and also a pain in the ass to configure.

doPDF

Convert a file to PDF.

installs itself as a virtual PDF printer, Open a document (with Microsoft Word, WordPad, NotePad or any other software), choose Print and select doPDF. It will ask you where to save the PDF file and when finished, the PDF file will be automatically opened in your default PDF viewer.
