San Fran or LA

I am taking a trip to Seattle and Portland and figured I would add Cali to my trip itinerary also. I was thinking of either going to San Fran or LA. Its been about 4 yrs since I have been to either of them, I am not sure where I would make more cash???????????????? Also where are good or bad places to stay?

Why wouldn't you go to both, considering they are a 35 minute flight away from each other, with both being huge markets? (2 of the top 5 Poulated Metro regions)
