In many of the late 80's to mid 90's classic TS/TV videos, there appeared to be a restraint in showing clear penetration or fellatio. Hands wrapped around penises and nondescipt humping would preclude positive identification of sexual contact in many performances. I have seen some reissues and compilations recently that intercut explicit contact with the original, but if you look closely, it's not the original performers. During this same period, Bobby Hollander,Bruce Seven,Alex DeRenzy, and many others were turning out GG Gonzo Porn that left nothing to the imagination in such clinical detail that in many respects makes videos of today tame by comparison. There were exceptions such as some of Kim Christie's films, overseas productions, and still photo sets found in publications such as CC, otherwise one couldn't help wonder if there was a reason for this or why the sex was seemingly simulated. TS videos as a genre didn't seem to rival straight or gay productions in explicitness until 1995/6 when foreign performers and mainstream producers/distributors took the reigns from the predominantly gay and fetish distribution channels in the states. Years ago, I followed a thread on one of the newsgroups that postulated that the some of studios such as Bizzare were trying to walk the fine line between bd/sm fetish and sexual contact. TS/TV films were considered fetish then and could possibly provoke the wrath of obscenity rulings. Another explanation offered was that unlike GG performers, the small pool of TS/TV talent was notoriously difficult to work with back then and would only do what they wanted until mainstream studio practice and willing foreign performers raised the bar and displaced many of them. That argument is difficult to accept when many of these same early performers did very explicit photo shoots for CC and other European productions. Whatever the case may be, perhaps there might be some of you that can put some of this into perspective and if pushing the boundries of perceived obscenity here in the states and Canada might have been a contributing factor.

On a related note, I remember a VHS movie with an interview before each scene. In the interviews anytime a performer said "fuck" or "get fucked", the volume dropped out. That tape had a scene with Kim Devine in it, can't remember the title.

Also in a scene with Lisa Lawrence on a gloryhole set, for some reason they dropped out the word "pissing".

Weird stuff.
