Dude, you need to update your files...(as far as Westinghouse is concerned)

-The Westinghouse Electric Corporation (WEC) is a Delaware corporation founded in 1998 by CBS Corporation (the renamed 'original' WEC and predecessor of the current CBS Corporation) to manage the intellectual property assets relating to the Westinghouse brand.

-1999 - CBS Corporation sells its remaining nuclear assets to BNFL who operates the business as Westinghouse Electric Company; the business is later sold to the Toshiba Group and currently operates under its present name.

Where's Frank Carlucci on this list: Sumner Redstone,Leslie Moonves, Shari Redstone, Joseph Califano Jr., Charles Gifford, Gary Countryman, David Andelman, Bruce Gordon, William Cohen, Leonard Goldberg, Arnold Kopelson, Linda Griego, Doug Morris, Frederic Salerno (This is the current Board of Directors of CBS).

I think what el Nino is trying to say is that the talking heads we see on TV are really NOT independant/unbised journalists. Waht they say and how they say is reviewed and critiqued by the CEO's (by and large bush supporters - rich Republicans) of the parent organization. Thank Al Gore for the internets for a different and unbiased slant.

Why do I keep seeing and this and when I read it i kinda lol because despite these "donations" only Fox News is the only stations that flat out on the right wing while the other go more towards the left. And the last time I checked Bill Gates was a democrat until they went after his ass lol.

And that's always been true. Independent press is the small organizations, with small circulations, that no one actually reads.

Even in the 18th & 19th century, major American papers were virtually always owned by politically active, biased, wealthy elitist individuals.

The Chicago Tribune was owned by the McCormicks, the powerful republican family that was related to Senator Hanna, and the same family whose family members were put in high paying diplomat spots by republican presidents- including reformers like TR. The McCormick family was richer than rich, they were one of the most powerful and wealthy families in the country... or have we already forgotten the details of Haymarket?

The McCormicks went so far as to hire mercenary groups to go after dissenters (they openly hired pinkertons to hunt down labor activists who jeopardized the company's operations). It was a few years after Haymarket, that Frick used Pinkertons similarly, and in that instance in PA- the mercenaries shot up a group of unarmed labor protesters, killing around a dozen and prompting Emma Goldman to send her lover to assassinate Frick (which he botched and did 20 years for).

These elitists were related to the important politicians, if not the politicians themselves. They controlled the major businesses, they owned the press, and they openly paid to kill anyone who disagreed with them.

Even the founding father's couldn't allow a free press, people were imprisoned, printing presses were destroyed, and publisher's offices were torched during the early federalist-antifederalist "debate"... the debate that was to decide the role of the federal government & the limit of states' rights. The Federalist itself was a series of essays run in NY papers to try to convince NY's residents to support the ratification of the constitution, an illegal document that was constructed illegally by a group of people who wanted to coup d'etat the articles of the confederation.

Free press is a bullshit phrase to convince people to blindly believe what they read. It is a myth, and it has never existed.

The talking heads on TV aren't journalists at all. They're models. It might as well be the Sears catalog.

No media is unbiased and without vested interests. The BBC which claimed impartiality for many years but recently high profile figures admitted it's employees were rather left leaning and was making an effort to balance it's news and current affairs, after some 'storms'. There was also a formal complaint made about it's handling of last UK general election coverage where bias was claimed and the BBC admitted a problem and apologised .

Lots of people prefer certain networks and news sources because it ties in with their world view. The problem is British people pay for a broadcasting corporation which now openly admits it has a political 'slant'. I think what people need to do is read a variety of news sources and realise that facts are often to a degree sexed up or even sometimes forgotten about ,for the story to change later. A good example of that was the claims that Palin thought Africa was a country. Debunked sometime later and the media network had to apologise. But it still reinforces an idea that she is not just inexperienced in politics and dealing with the media (in my view) but fucking stupid. So many people go on believing it.

Don't ever take anything the media says at face value.Google 'colin stagg'.. as a sad example.

Yes, both of them. So it would be jackasses, zippy.

You, you're a moronic troll.

And a jackass.

I'll ignore you in the future like everyone else does. You follow me around with your juvenile BS because it has your panties in a twist that I helped get you banned when you posted as worthy2. You'll eventually get so desperate for attention that your moronic and offensive drivel will probably get you banned again. But nobody will really care because you're just another insignificant troll. You're not even interesting enough to qualify for village idiot status, despite the fact that you have proven yourself to be an total idiot. Attaboy, addicted. Why don't you just call yourself adipshit? I don't doubt that you're an addict, airplane glue most likely. Probably shoplifted. But adipshit fits you even better. I'll let you get back to your airplane glue now, adipshit.

I guess congrats are in order, El Nino! Although it's comes as no surprise that one of the precious few allies that you've found on this board is a half-witted troll...dumb and dumber! Not exactly a shocker when one considers the idiotic lunatic-fringe links that you spam this forum with ad nauseum.

Hope you two are nice and cozy in your tinfoil bunker...LMAO...got enough airplane glue?
