The trailers don't seem to tempt me to see it. And what's up what happened to the "Mach 5", its now the "Mach 6"? WTF?! Even the new Speed Racer cartoon is LAME! Thank God for DVD's of the original!!!

I will probably see it like when I went to see Cloverfield, after the hoopla comes down.

Well. I can live without seeing it. I didn't care much for the cartoon as a kid and the movie looks like a normal hollyweird over priced flash in the pan. I'm waiting on Indy and the crystal skulls.

Peter Travers of Rolling Stone said that it's too long for a family movie, and adults won't want to see it on there own; and the only level it works on is as an awesome drug movie.

i simply adore the original ' 68 cartoon series as a kid as it appealed
to all ages and was first great animation that was a great
combination of comedy/serious action-adventure. It was fun, gripping
artistic and even inspiring.
it was extraordinarily unique in it's own way.

the " new " Speed Racer series was a total rip off of the
original and does the series no justice whatsoever.
the car, the characters, the adventures, music theme, everything
was just awful !
As for the movie itself, i'll still go see it, despite it's odd,
corny-cartoonish look on the trailers. Nothing on the previews looks
anything impressive like the animation series.
But i'm fearful the " Matrix" directors may have crushed
the life out of this film.

I went and saw it on IMAX tonight.

I expected to be disappointed....

Boy was I ever wrong.

This movie was almost perfect for what it was.

I can't think of a single thing I would change, and i'm usually very critical of movies.

i finally got around to seeing Speed Racer.
it was just awful ! the trailers made it look very cartoonish and
i walked away feeling i had seen a bad, corny as shit cartoon.
the flashing, distorted bright colors and visual effects
in the car races was terrible. couldn't see what the hell was going
on action-wise. just couldn't see a damn thing.and the movie was
ridiculously long and drawn out.
it's more made for kids. The Matrix directors just made a complete
mess of this film. ....AWFUL !

It's an okay movie. Short on plot and a bit long. It is very stylized to the point of sensory overload. Over time, the special affects and bright colors wear thin, and then the lack of a meaningful story takes center stage.
