I was watching Law & Order SVU tonight and this very sexy trans woman came on. She was hot! So I did a little detective work and found out her name was LaVerne Cox. Does anyone know anything more about her? Here are a few pics from her MySpace site. The episode was called "Closet" it's original air date was 4/22/08.

thanks!! but yea on the episode.

she played a drag queen street prostitute.
she was loud and ghetto acting.

she looked and acted like a flamboyant gay man.

i was saddened, watching it.

its called being a good actress. don't get it confused with the girls that go on maury and declare "man" on the cards. (nothing wrong with it but there is a dfference.)

as far as Laverne, she is such a sweet girl and sheis trully beautiful. she is an actress and is one of the stars of Being T. I've got much love for her!

yeah your right, I mean I've felt the same way about seeing black people on tv acting ghetto and loud. they just keep adding to the stereotype.

I mean if I was black I know I would be saddend by queen latifah acting so ghetto and loud on Bringing the House Down.
....

....

obviously I don't think that but hopefully you get what im trying to say.

(if you didint)

its societies problem not ours(tgirls)

I know what you are saying Alyssa87 about Laverne’s role, but it’s a paradox. She seems to be trying to make a legitimate entertainment career outside of porn. But trans women actresses are typically cast in the role of street prostitutes. One of my favorite movies dealt with this among Black actors. It was called “Hollywood Shuffle” by Robert Townsend. He dealt with it in a comedic way, but it was the same issue. Imagine an actor being trained in Shakespeare but the only roles open is that of a gang member, slave or African tribesman. So I would say that it is probably not Laverne’s fault. It is a larger issue of media portrayal.

I guess it's the same as all the t-girl prostitutes/escorts out there. Oh wait, that's different, isn't it?

LaVerne = chocolate heaven. Face of an angel, body of a goddess. Her roles, acting are irrelevant.

The episode she was in that aired on 4/22 she played a manager at a gym. She was wearing sexy little blue tights and it showed her bending over for quite awhile (Very nice view on HD TV by the way). She didn't play a tranny hooker or anything stereotypical. It was great to see.

yea the role was not bad at all. She looks just like the big lipped girl who left the show Girllfriends (jill marie jones).

Will someone PLEEEEASE post a nude of her! I cant wait to see her dick!!

When I first heard of the CeCe McDonald case, it was during the time the George Zimmerman case. I couldn't help but notice the difference, in the the way the victims's histories were handled. In both cases the person on trial had sustained injuries. But notice how, a 17 year old's toxicology of marijuana was ruled as evidence, not not the adult White male with cocaine and meth, in his his system. He also had a criminal history of assaults, along with his swastika tatoo.

But I suppose that you wanted some comment about Laverne Cox, since she is the subject of this thread. Are you proud that she is presented as a responsible artist, as I am?
