I'm asking this because when I was on my myspace page I sent a tranny a friends request. I didn't even send her a message or nothing just a simple friends request and she sends me back a really shitty email which i'll post in a second. I was just wondering how or why would a tranny talk about other trannies in such a negative light calling them men and stuff when they're the same thing if we go there. I was really surprised because I remember that this tranny who's really fine as hell and I thought a nice woman because she used to post on this site for a short period and she seemed to be really nice? I don't want to say who she is but she's a beautiful black tranny that used to post here. Now i'll post her response to me for just sending her a simple freinds request and she's not the first tranny that i've gotten a nasty email from primarily talking about other trannies??? So i'm wondering why trannies have so many issues?

I feel you Blackrob. People want love and accpetance, but then turn around and attack someone with similar characteristics. Of course it is not all, but probably far too many as I have heard of things like this before many times. The other side is that most girls have a ts mentor who supported their transition. But the example you cite shows that there are some deeper issues that I suspect is more than that one person.

P.S. to D: I wouldn't say that this post is worthless without a name. The larger issue is about being judgmental, and a form of self-hate.

Right you would think if anybody who would be understanding and accepting of a tranny would be another tranny but I guess it doesn't work like that. Truth of the matter is that we are all the same. Anyone who was physically born a certain gender and choses to express themselves contradictory to the norms assigned to that gender by society is transgender. Once we able to accept each other and the various way we express our gender, then we would be better able to advocate for ourselves. Until then, "mainstream" society will continue to use us and laugh as they watch us destroy ourselves.

I think this part of the statement deserves to be highlighted. I strongly believe this myself. This is what this thread is about in the first post. It is about acceptance and identifying with the struggles of others. Strength comes in numbers. But I would go beyond this and include gay people. This does not mean that the person who supports them identifies as gay. This just means that trans people can identify with them as a group who are fighting for acceptance. Too often on this board the term ‘fag’ is used as an insult. I find it particularly ironic that many girls here have expressed disdain for gays like they are better than them. Some societies of the world use this as a divide and conquer technique accepting trans while denying gays, or others deny trans saying they are really gay instead.

But in a few societies trans people are viewed as good. They are viewed as having the power to better understand both the male and female principles in life. This strain of thought is even somewhat accepted here in the US and other places, as cross gender entertainers like RuPaul or Dame Edna can be mainstream entertainers. I am saying this to amplify what Reyna has said. Power in general comes from accepting others, rather than separating or thinking that you are better than them, like the person in the original post of this thread.

(For those that may wonder about me, I am a sociologist by training and tend to look at the larger meaning of personal events.)

I think that within every cultural group they're cast systems emplace that prevent them for truly being unified. Unfortunately the transgender community is not immune from self- discrimination. They are some girls that transition early in life and therefore are completely passable. Some of them, put themselves on a pedestal. They believe themselves to be better than other members of the transgender community. Likewise others transgender people might discriminate towards transsexual because they themselves are not full time and can pass as "normal". Transexual, transvestite, transgenderist, pre-op, post-op, gender variant, crossdresser, ftm, mtf, cross gender, drag queen, drag king, androgynous, genderqueer. Truth of the matter is that we are all the same. Anyone who was physically born a certain gender and choses to express themselves contradictory to the norms assigned to that gender by society is transgender. Once we able to accept each other and the various way we express our gender, then we would be better able to advocate for ourselves. I've actually come across a couple of trannies like this myself. One of them is a good friend of this chick here and she calls her this chicks half sister but i'm not sure if they're really sisters or they just call themselves that? From my experiences it's just trannies trying to distance themselves from other trannies because they feel they're better than other trannies and it might increase their chances of being clocked if they're seen with other trannies but I don't understand why the need to talk bad about other trannies and degrade them. If they want people to be accepting of them then why would some of them spew so much venom at other trannies??

You make a strong point and I respect what you have said, however there is one major thing being left out. Too many in the community lack the basic spiritual lessons for happiness. These lessons are not judge others harshly, treat others the way you would like to be treated, and practice love as much as you can. I am not saying everyone by any means.

The things you list are true, but some use it as an excuse to indulge in negative behaviors. These behaviors include such things as stealing, cheating, or self destructive behaviors like drug abuse. They are not taught enough that their own negative behaviors start a new chain of consequences which comes back to them. One example would be when someone charges $200+ per hour for their time, and does not provide good service. No amount of past mistreatment justifies them to mistreat others. Basic spiritual lessons translate down to good business practices.

Someone brought up the feud between Brenda, Vanessa and Mimi. I think that does prove a point. Mimi’s attack especially was very personal on Brenda, posting unflattering pictures, etc. And the names Brenda was called were as bad as any transphobic person could do, which included making fun of her appearance and calling her by a male name. So when somebody else later attacked Mimi very few people came to her defense. And several people wrote in to specifically say because of her past behaviors justified someone else insulting her. Her harsh judgments of others came back on her, even though I argued on her behalf.

Transsexuals are born into a world with many obstacles in their path. But everyone else also has things that they must work to overcome. Those that do overcome and find ways to express Love, in the spiritual sense, are given more special gifts.

So I go back to answer the title of this thread. Yes, transsexuals do have a lot of issues. They are given many issues by society. But those who overcome these issues to lead successful lives are shining examples of humanity, even though most people are slow to understand this. This is why I love trans women.

The one about the caste system that most minorities fall into is particularly good, and something I wish would change. I tried to find some support for trying to transition when I was in my late 20's and found out that even my friends in the community were going to distance themselves from me until I got to a respectable appearance, say after a couple years of work. I was stunned... luckily I guess my mother got sick and I tabled the whole thing as I couldn't do it to her when she was so weak... so I got to keep my friends, yay me.

second one that really stood out was that many Trans folks really do feel that this is a stop over on the way to being 'real women' post surgery. So they feel no sense of community with the 'freaks' and the 'perverts' they have to use to get back to being part of normal society.

Now I have to agree with Jade here. I dont answer all those messages I get all the time and I have something total seperate set up for people that I really know and family.
