first of all.. def. rent a car, stay in a san juan hotel or you'll be stuck in traffic half of your trip going to san juan or looking for parking, learn as much spanish as you can.., divas gentlemans club in san juan is trash..

I would say stay in hotel san juan, they have a packed nightclub with beautiful people.. steer clear from all the police checkpoints on san juan strip.. and if your planning to do a tourist thing, check out el yunqe rain forest (20 min outside san juan), and culebra island (from fajardo (20 min outside san juan) an hour ferry ride, or 15 minute small plane ride.)

also aside from the great restaurants in san juan, try martin's bbq.

now as far as your original question; the casinos... i dont think there is a "ts" club in san juan, they probably wouldnt be able to afford to stay open in san juan... and if there was one on the island, i wouldnt suggest going outside the "tourist" area if you dont know spanish, or dont know the roads, since road signs are sparce and its easy to get lost.

As a Puerto-Rican I find your statement ignorant.
Do you know your HIV status? How often do YOU get tested??

Being ts in Puerto-Rico is not as big of a deal as being a ts in Chicago or NYC. I find Puerto-Ricans in La Isla to be much more accepting and respectful of us. Even my girlfriend from NYC pointed that out on our last trip! I will share pics as I take them on the beach!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi All,
Or anywhere I should absolutely Not go .

Thanks in advance!

Don't go to the Zoo. Very few trans girls ever hang out at the zoo. That goes for any zoo, not just Puerto Rican zoos. But you might get lucky over by the monkey cage...

:-) :-) :-) :-)

I've never actually been to PR, but I've always wanted to go. I've seen photos and it's beautiful - looks to me very similar to Hawaii. Have fun. You too Vanessa.

Hugs,
TS Jamie :-)

It's been about 10 years since my last visit, but Puerto Rico's cool. It's a really bustling place, but with a bit of a laid back attitude. People are friendly & polite. Spanish is the primary language, but English is a compulsory second language in most of the schools as far as I know & almost everybody speaks a smattering enough so you can get by if you just talk loud & slow, & wave your arms around a lot. You know, just like anywhere else in the world. It's part of the United States, so you don't need a passport or visa & all transactions happen in US currency.

I don't know for clubs because I had a tight itinerary, but every hotel has one & they seemed to be everywhere in the Condado area. I ran across a few Tgirls just hanging out in the casino at Hotel San Juan. Too bad I didn't have more time & less family around. (I had to chaperone Mom, & it was exhausting) My advice is to listen to Vanessa. I really need to get back there without the family reunion.

As for driving: If you have a weak heart, call a cab & close your eyes till you get there. In Mexico, the stop signs say "ALTO!". Pretty obvious that means halt. In PR, they say "pare". Now that also means stop in Spanish, but it's more like "Uh excuse me, but if you're not going to stop, could you at least pay a little attention to the cross traffic as you blow by like I don't exist?". Apparently, stop signs & red lights just mean that if a crash happens it's going to be your fault. It can be a bit disconcerting for someone from the contiguous States. But hey, at least they drive on the right side of the road. I was amazed that I never saw any crashes. I might suggest a detailed current street map of San Juan. The Island isn't all that big, so all hiways from anywhere else take you back to San Juan.

Enjoy your trip. It's a beautiful place.

I don't get tested because I have been in a monogamous relationship for years, and I trust my partner.

My statement isn't ignorant at all. It is your ignorance on the aids subject in Puerto Rico that should be addressed. Google "Puerto Rico Aids Epidemic" and you will see.

Also, I believe that the United States Department of Health also has some very good information on the Aids Epidemic in Puerto Rico. Their website is http://www.dhhs.gov.

Once you read that Puerto Rico has double the infection rate as we do here on the mainland, I am sure you will be singing a different tune.
