yeah seems interesting, but because it's so unorthodoxed, it'll probably turn
alot of people off.

I'm thinking it will be alright. It's a good idea.

"What if Godzilla, or whatever, actually attacked a city, and people recorded it on video?"

That's pretty cool. I guess we'll see. General release is this weekend.

So far most of the early reviews have been quite positive, but then again like Ive learned from most things if u have a high expectation walkin in to see this movie then u might be let down, all Im saying is so long as they show a monster, some good destruction sequences and a half decent plot, then I will be satisfied, besides Im hoping There will be blood makes it to my town this week.

PG-13 Rating turns me off, as does the "blair witch" type of camera work. Im gonna guess that its gonna suck, but i could be wrong.

It could suck, but this from the producer of "Lost", so I'm thinking it will be pretty good. I grew up watching Godzilla and other monster movies, and they were campy and stupid. This is an interesting new take on that idea. What if a monster actually attacked a city? What the hell would a person do?

The normal reaction would be: "What? A giant monster? Get outa here. . . Oh, shit, what is that? OK, it's a fuckin giant monster. . . this sucks."

I'm just saying, it's a good movie concept. We shall see.

I forgot about the next Star Trek movie. I haven't really looked into that much yet. They picked a good guy for Spock, that's all I know so far.

They rarely live up to hype. The last hyped up movie I was satisfied with was 300.

This looks like it's going to a cross between Blairwitch and Godzilla. If I decide to see this one it'll be on DVD.

However I grew up watching Godzilla and Voltron but couldn't stand the Power Rangers. Go figure.

If they're going to do another Star Trek movie it should be with the cast of one of the later incarnations of the show. Half of the NG ones were good. I really wanted to see them do something more with DS9 or Voyager but the way they ended the show I guess it's going to be kind of hard. I know I'm going to see off GP so I hope it's good.

I saw a trailer for Cloverfield a while back in the theaters and it totally blew me away. I think the concept is awesome. Hangin' out at a party with some friends and your video camera - then a "sci-fi something" attacks the city and you keep filming.

That's like aliens invading while I'm shooting a hardcore tranny scene and then Christian, Sexxy Jade, Danielle Foxxx and I all go and battle the aliens while I keep taping.

I'm gonna see it.

I heard a bunch of trannies invaded the AVN award show. I am unsure if they kept filming.

Nadia -

Yes there was a tranny invasion. Not much filming but lots of photos being taken if I remember correctly. Especially when you're walking with a beautiful t-girl on your arm.

Hmmm. I suppose I no longer have any legitimate reason to be pissed off at you.

Now the question is, if you think "Cloverfield" is a cool concept, and you have access to equipment, talent and resources, why don't you do something more compelling then "Shemale Email", or whatever it was? I'm not trying to be rude (maybe a little bit). I haven't the slightest idea what The Foxxx has been up to since she posted here last, but I know she has an education in movie make-up and FX type stuff. You've posted that you have worked on indie films. Allanah, Gia Darling, Tara Emory, Ally Sinclair, all talented and brilliant, and that's just scratching the surface of a long list.

Why is this industry still dragging the bottom when it has numerous interesting and talented people involved in it? Why not do something cool? I think a lot of people would benefit from some more imagination and effort put into future projects.

End of rant.

Oh, but I agree on "Cloverfield", it does look like an interesting movie. I hope the monster doesn't look stupid.

I didn't know you were pissed at me for my lack of narrative in my fuck films. But expect to see more - bigger and better - maybe even something with a storyline in the year to come. It's not as easy and breezy as you put it. But I hear ya.

I actually haven't seen any of your movies. I was pissed because you shot a scene with VR. But I'm over that sort of thing, now.

I'm sure you're greatly relieved to read that (sarcasm intended).

Cloverfield:

'A bunch of well-to-do partying New Yorkers get the shit kicked out of them by a monster we never really see, who, in its symbolism-heavy rampage, knocks the head off of the Statue of Liberty (gosh...it wouldn't dare...society is in meltdown!!!)'.

meh

I was worried about the whole "not seeing the monster" thing too, but I've read a spoiler from someone who's seen the movie already. You do get to see the monster, quite a bit apparently.

That's all I know. It might look dumb, I don't know that yet.

I just can't see them making the monster look in any way credible. The old Godzilla flicks had camp on their side, so you didn't mind that it was obviously a modified T-Rex toy tearing up the city. But this film seems to be going for the 'Thriller' ticket, with no campy outlet, and so I think the monster will fall flat on its face (metaphorically, of course), similarly to the way some of the 'supernatural' aspects of 'Lost' did IMO.

Godzilla was a guy in a rubber suit, not a T-Rex toy.

"Cloverfield" is all "found video footage" of a monster rampage. I'm sure it will be a lot of shakey-cam low res video stuff, the monster won't be in clear focus because whoever is supposedly running the cam would be more concerned with pants shitting and eventually getting killed then with using a light meter.

The monster is apparently shown, though. I'm curious as to how the pull it off.

It could suck, it could be pretty good. I guess we'll see.

So who is the Monster?

I haven't found a picture of it yet, and I haven't seen the movie yet, personally. I wish someone who's seen the movie would post a description of the damn thing. Label it a spoiler thread for people who want to be surprised.

I just want to know what it actually looks like, and if the cgi is any good. A dumb looking monster would wreck this movie for me.

And the CGI is actually somewhat good, not bad enough where it ruins the movie

Seen it...Worth checking out if you can stand the photography. I'm sure they'll lose some people just for the way it was filmed. A bit slow to start, but ended up liking the story line as it wasn't your classic "monster" conflict.

Good movie. No usual hero makes supervirus at end to save the world. Disturbing at times and suspenseful. I would like to know what the creature was. The DVD will probably have good extras. I hope. Good spin on monster movie.

THE FUCKING DUDE WEILDING THE CAMERA PISSED ME OFF. First ten minutes seemed like he was shaking the camera intentionally. The idea of filming the movie from that perspective was ingenius though and it was a pretty decent movie if you could stand the flickering lights and shaking of the camera. All the advertisement throughout the movie was cracking me up....almost seemed more like a commercial during certain sessions as opposed to a movie. It was pretty suspenseful and had some great scenes in it, but I kinda fealt they would dwell on certain scenes too long and make some guys lose interest. Didn't know whether I was watching a love story or a thriller at times. Nearly 1/4 of my theatre went back and got refunds though. The movie isnt the best but it's new and worth checking out IMO.

No. It's a feature-length gimmick posing as a movie. The gimmick is that the bulk of the film is viewed through the lens of one of the party goer's camcorder a la the Blair Witch Project. The result is a nauseating experience while watching a predictable, stupid and, worst of all, boring monster movie. Rarely have I rooted so hard for the monster... Save your money.

I am working on a narrative shemale sci-fi porn film. It's just taking a bit longer than I expected getting the project off the ground. But I should have something to report by the end of the month.
