The AVN, My Win, and My Thanks...

It's 9:48 Vegas time. Sitting in my suite and I am still in awe over my win @ yesterday's AVN Awards.

Since the AVN does not let TS performers go on stage to accept their award, I would like to express my thanks in writing- plus my thanks would be a bit too long for an acceptance speech anyway.

I had NO CLUE I was going to win. I seriously did not expect it, and was not even paying attention when they were rolling the announcements. My boyfriend was video taping and all of a sudden I looked up and saw my picture on the monitors with my name as the winner and I almost fell out of my chair.

I said 'Oh my God I won!' and my boyfriend said 'See I told you-you were going to win'. I was in shock- never in a million years did I expect to win this year. Buck Angel was the first to run over and congratulate me. I love Buck. Gia Darling came running over and she was crying and made me cry. It was just all VERY surreal. (Luckily we caught it all on tape for you to see).

I almost skipped the awards last night as it was all very last minute for me. Thanks to Wendy who helped me go get my tickets and gave me all the details-she is a big part of the reason I attended. We were supposed to walk down the red carpet with her and Vaniity but I was running SO late. I was not feeling my gown at the very last minute and just switched into an old Dolce I had worn before.

Today I am still walking on air. It's really a great feeling to have won as I have worked very hard for the past six years to make Allanah Starr what she is today. In many ways I had a lot of odds against me in the adult business- I started porn very late in life (26), I have an over done look that is not pleasing to some, and living in NYC I am not able to do many films a year. I am glad I beat the odds.


I would sincerely like to thank:

AVN- for the award and for all of those who voted for me and those who nominated me. I hope that I can really promote this award and work with AVN to better the ts situation over there.

Joanna Jet-because without you this award would not exist. I'll never forget our first meeting-which was the first time we had sex on cam! I very much miss seeing you.

Tony V.-for discovering me and allowing me the first opportunity to model and introducing me into the business and introducing me to Joey Silvera.

Seanchai- for launching my adult career, for choosing me as 'Girl Of The Month' two month's in a row, for always promoting me and giving me the best advice on a professional and business level, and for hiring me for my first movie scene EVER-yes you popped my cherry baby! I am so thankful to you for your friendship. You have always treated me with the highest level of respect and kindness. This award if as much yours, Tony V., and Franks because without you guys I would have not had the breaks I had early on. I owe so much of my career to you.

Gia Darling- there is not much I can say that I have not said to you.
I love you so very, very much. You have always been a true friend and have always been so selfless with me. Thank you for guiding me and for being my mentor in this business. Thank you for giving me the opportunities you have. There is no way I could ever repay you for your kindness and friendship towards me. I owe this award and much of my success to YOU. My fans- thank you SO SO SO much to all of you who have ever bought one of my movies, joined my web site, attended my parties, paid me a compliment, sent me a kind note- THANK YOU so much. Without you there would be NO ALLANAH STARR. I am flattered beyond belief by all of you. Everyday I amazed people still like me!

Dina Delicious- for always keeping it real, for having my best interest at heart, and for always being completely selfless with me. I love you so much. You are like my sister- and in much more than just surgery.

NYCe- you and I go way back and it was you who interviewed me for Hungangels when I first started and got me involved here. Thank you for always having my back no matter what. You have helped me SO much throughout the years I can never thank you enough.

My peers Vicki Richter, Danielle Foxxx, Vaniity, Buck Angel, Wendy Williams, & Jade. Vicki- thank you for hiring me for your production this year. I respect all you do very much-and I respect your intelligence the most. You deserve all the great things happening in your life. Danielle- you are such a talented woman and an excellent performer. I know that whatever you choose your future to be you will excell. Vaniity-your sweetnes is matched by your beauty. You are a STAR. Buck- I love YOU dearly. You are so real and such a wonderful person. Thank you for taking a chance with me when we filmed Big Boob Adventures. You have broken so many barriors in this industry and in people's minds-your courage is phenomenal. Wendy- I really respect how resilient you are and how much you persevere. Thank you for helping me get it together this year. I know that nothing is never gonna stop Ms. Williams and I really respect that. Jade- you are such a sweet and wonderful girl. You have a very bright future in this business. Besides being beautiful- you have an a great heart and personality.

You believed I was going to win this all a long. You had complete faith. Thank you. Thank you for always believing me and accepting me no matter what. You have changed my life for the better-you make me want to be a better person everyday. I love you more than any words could ever express. Thank you for the exceptional time we have spent together- may there be much more.

And a special thanks to the guys and gals on HA. You put up with all my ads, promos, and my 'isms'. I know some of you don't like me but that is OK. I will still keep doing my thing and going forward. No regrets.

Remember, AVN only started recognizing us with a legitimate award not so long ago. I think they are still a bit scared on how to deal with us- but in time, wether it be one year or 10, things will change.

With all the crap demands around here - TS should be given this, given that, equal law for this, for that, discrimination this or that and so on and so on . . . yet our "star" isn't bitching about not being allowed on stage because of being a TS ... as long as you get something you want you don't bitch ...

To be fair to the AVN- there are many other performance awards that are also announced over the system and monitor- just not the ts. I don't think they are being prejiduced.

Do I think AVN is unfair to ts? Well, I think they don't know quite how to 'deal' with us.

The only ts that has been invited on the AVN stage officially was Joanna Jet as a presenter- and as she told me, they were VERY nervous about audience response.

The response to her entrance: the same as any others. There were no boos, no riots, no one passed out.

If you think I am being selfish by not bitching- that is your opinion.

I would like to see things improve over at AVN in regards to how we as ts 'stars' are treated compared to the other mainstream stars.

But right at this moment- I am just very happy I won and am enjoying that.

I'd rather use this as a positive tool- than to 'bitch' and burn bridges.

Seeing you cry on Saturaday almost made me cry, and now this speech and those kinds words have me tearing up again. Its always a pleasure to be around you and hang out in NYC at the parties with you when I'm in town. Also here in Vegas I think took the cake, we had a blast. Congragulations again on your win.

As far as the AVN in my opinion I feel that things are progressing quite well actually. Lets remember that we just started even getting recognized afew years ago. Every year something changes for the better so I think it can only go uphill. We may not be on stage yet but this year they did show the pcture of the winner aposed to last yr not at all. I agree with Allanah, AVN is still kinda scared of the reactions of people if they allow us to partcipate at AVN, but it is up to us to show them that we are people too, and can act accordingly and that we deserve the same recognition as everyone else. I truly feel that the day is soon coming that we will be recognized fairly.

Lastly, it was a great pleasure to not only be nominated, but to attend the AVN ceremony. I had more fun than I've had in a long time. Vegas is surely becoming one of my favorite cities (im still here..lol) What amazed me most about the awards were the people and fans, all wanting pictures and autographs, it was a bit overwelming for me. Its funny because half of them didnt necessarily know who we were, they just knew we were sexy porn stars and they wanted a picture. I took sooo many pictures with guys ( azz lovers..lol) This was truly a memorable experience and I look forward to being apart of it for many yrs to come.

An artist friend of mine was once nominated for a major award (No, not the infamous Leg Lamp) and decided against the expense and schedule requirements of the cross-country flight, etc. as he was just a 'noob' in the genre at the time.

The day of the awards ceremony, a friend of his called and asked why he wasn't there. Then they said that he should really think about flying out. Then they said "You =NEED= to be =HERE=!". Based on that subtle hint, he flew out in time to accept his first award (Of many) for his exceptional work.

It's always a treat when those that don't expect it win such a prize. The emotions and thoughts that they express are truly genuine.

Congrats to you, Ms. A! It's no wonder that you are such a shining Starr. :wink:
