I figured this would be the place to ask, I was wondering the best way to locate a plastic surgeon and if there is a way to check their history? Are there any unbiased review sites? I tried a google search but came up with mostly paid advertisements. I live in the Boston area and would like to find a local surgeon.

The first thing to do is check credentials. You want a board certified surgeon
- Fellow of the American College of Surgery (FACS).

here is a link to check credentials:

http://www.cosmeticsurgerysociety.com/?PPCCode=YS160&OVRAW=Board%20of%20Plastic%20Surgery&OVKEY=board%20of%20plastic%20surgery&OVMTC=standard&OVADID=810482012&OVKWID=90433945512

The other certifying body is the American Board of Plastic Surgery

their url is https://www.abplsurg.org/ModDefault.aspx

and the third is the American Society of Plastic Surgeons
http://www.plasticsurgery.org/

The next test is Hospital affiliation. Make sure your plastic surgeon is affiliated with a good hospital. Hospitals police the qualifications of their staff.

In NY New York Magazine does a list of the the Best Doctors in NY every year. US News and World Report does a similar list every year.

Good luck.
