There's a lot of guys who spend much of their day here hitting each other with their purses. For me, I like to get along, it's pretty easy to avoid fighting with people here. It is fun sometimes to watch people argue over who's queer and who ain't. I suppose some of the girls have problems avoiding idiots though.

I like this place. It took me awhile to get to 500 posts but I check these boards fairly regular. When I first joined these boards I thought it would be full of freaks. Either people here aren't as freaky as I expected or I've become more of a freak and don't notice it anymore.

I can see how flame wars can be aggravating, but often times they weave through threads that have long since been dead at times when the board isn't particularly active. So it doesn't get in the way of legitimate posting or better, more interesting topics.

Not to say that they're necessary, but they're unavoidable. The real question. Does it create an environment that might be threatening for people who want to reveal their fantasies? Possibly, which is why I'm going to try my best to avoid them from here out.

I'm sorry xrey, but these whiny threads are getting ridiculous, it is a public forum which means the ebb and flow of posters and their personalities will vary as time goes by.

How is using big worlds at all relevant? Would it really be a better place if people used small words? I think your plight has manifested its self in a post that really doesn’t make any sense.

Some people enjoy the cock picture threads, others the drama, some even come in the hope of meeting a girl. But the fact IS most people are happy to either take part or at least be a spectator in the drama that occurs on a daily basis, anyway in which that drama is played out, should really be expected. As the saying goes, "All is fair in Love and War". In lament terms, people will use whatever they can in the heat of battle. This has always been the way with Forums, and that will never change, so either get used it, stick to the cock picture threads, or move on!

Voted "yes". The overall tone has gotten a lot more mean-spirited in the last few months. Now the majority of active threads are flamewars, which wasn't the case previously. The people posting thousands of times per month are the biggest drag.

First off, the hypocrisy in your post is amusing. I have seen you post in many a drama thread, and who are you to say when enough is enough?

If someone wants to carry something on, on a public forum they are entitle to do exactly that.

My problem is not his opinion, but rather him making whiny threads about it that are bound to just cause more drama, it is nonsensical and pointless, if you can't see that, well I guess you are not quite as sharp as you would like to think you are.

Oli, I understand your points, and without being wrong you maybe asking for too much when it comes to the human species as an animal, so to speak.

Although we all use keyboards to express are characters and opinions here, we are no different to a bunch of people from all over the world congregating in a certain space or area. The only actual apparent likeness that we share is “TS thing”, and that is certainly not a reason enough to say that we should all get along "Just fine".

There are bound to be clashes, sniping and differences of opinion, of course they could be upheld with much more to decorum and grace. But I can't actually see that happening in the above said situation I have just previously referred to, so I fail to see why it would be any different on a forum. The fact that most people are anonymous just adds to the likeliness of arguments and battles, because any sense of standard restraints that exist in society can be abandoned without much apparent and visible reprisal, as the threat of a ban hardly compares to arrest or criminal charges that may be applied when things get out of hand in real life situations.

I guess my point is, most of the people who bitch about the drama, either add to it and in many cases actually start it.

Sometimes the so called "Culprits", are not the actual offenders, meaning that many people will start drama, sit back and watch it emerge and then complain when they don't like the tone that is being used towards them.

I would say that I definitely take part in the drama, and certainly enjoy it. However I am not one of the people that takes things too seriously and pushes things to more than what they should be, drama!

I don't hold grudges, I have had many disputes with people here, but there are only three people I actually dislike. Many people that I have clashed with, I actually now have the up most respect for.

I guess I just see the fun in it, that is what is so great when it comes to public forums, what is the worst than can happen? Someone can verbally insult you, it's not really that bad, is it?

In a real life, everyday situation with some of heat and intensity of the battles and exchanges that occur here, things would most certainly come to blows and elevate into maybe even serious violence. And that is what is so great, here it can not. It is a controlled environment where people disagree and even get very angry without any real serious results that come from those exchanges.

I try not to worry, without the drama this place would not be half the fun!

Expecting humans, that after all are creatures that have always fought and battled not to on forums, whether it is right or wrong, is asking way too much.

The one thing I won’t abide is people making threads that are bound to cause more drama, and then claiming they don’t like drama, unless they are blind or stupid, even to them it must seem a contradictory act!

Yep, society is riddled with problems, people arguing, disagreeing and fighting. The world we live in is not perfect and is certainly not all sweetness and light, so why would a forum be any different? It is simply just a reflection of the world we live in today, except here the differences and disagreements are actually not nearly as serious or life changing, and that is a great thing.

Also, there's the impersonal nature of forum interaction as well. With a person sitting right in front of you, you have all those essential verbal, and non-verbal clues (body language, facial expression, voice tone, etc.) to determine what someone is ACTUALLY saying. These are luxuries that forums do not share, ultimately, it's just code translated into text on a page. Because of that, misunderstandings are bound to happen becaise pf a post being taken the wrong way, and another flame war ensues.

It sucks, but that's just the nature of this particular beast. :shrug

To start with, though the forum is definitely experiencing an uptick in flaming, this place is nowhere near what it used to be in that regard. Seriously, this place used to be the Wild West of internet forums. Comparing today's antics with those of its past is akin to taking a fist fight or two in modern-day Times Square and using it to argue that Times Square is more violent now than at any point in its history; that is, it just doesn't hold up.

That said, this place does run in cycles. HA has always experienced periods of relative peace followed by periods of relative turmoil – during which a few people have invariably claimed that things are the worst they've ever seen. A year or two from now, you'll see the same tired assertion.

Has this forum lost its appeal? Quite definitely not. Many of us come here everyday to exchange pics, jokes, ideas and just talk and hang with friends. In some ways this forum is more vibrant than ever.

Are flame wars boring? Obviously not. We can't stay away from them.

Are flame wars out of hand? In my opinion, yes. But that's certainly no reason to shut down the site (if that is the reason).

It certainly would be sad to see this community vanish (like the lost colony in Roanoke). I'll miss all the wonderful chaos.

I've read every line of this thread and, damn it peeps...this is exactly why we ARE here!!! The opinions, insight, interaction, bickering, bitching, degrading, condescending, stabbing, whining, flaming, kicking, scratching, gouging, lurking, ....etc. We all thrive on it OR, we would all leave. No one would have to force us, no one would have to shut the site down. It would cease to exist due to lack of interest.

I've only been here 3 months so I'm not aware of the appeal this place had before then. I agree that the flamewars get out of hand from time to time, but sometimes it's the whiners keep the fire burning. They haven't been spilling onto too many threads of late, just the ones made directly for fighting. If NYCe does decide to keep this place running, I think anytime there's a disagreement on a thread then "Fight Club" thread should be bumped to settle it there.

Of all the forums I've been to, this is the only one that I've stayed over 3 days so I vote YES to keep it :mrgreen:

and the thread is not what the vote was about, so I hope this vote has nothing to do with any decision to close the site down. Not fair to say "does this particular thing on here bug you?' and determine that the one thing you're asking about is reason to say the place is going to shit.

I don't like the fighting, but I just skip those threads for the most part...no biggie. Anyway, if it closes forever I would feel bad for those people who've made this place their internet home for some time like the guy with over five thousand posts- shit ask him if the place is worthwhile....bet you'd get a yes on that one.

so i admit i voted yes that the flame wars suck, but i'd vote no that the site is losing it's appeal- how about a poll on that...if that's what you really want to know. but i'm new so what do i know right?

I've been President of several Corvette Clubs over the years. I could ALWAYS garauntee that a very few of the members would produce 99% of the work. I could also count on the ones who did nothing, taking 1oo% of the credit.

I believe the Mods on HA have done a tremendous job...leaps and bounds over any other forum of which I am, or have been, a member, adult oriented or not. NYCe, should you decide continue this present course of action... I thank you for the opportunity to be associated with HA and, wish you all the best, as well as the HA membership, in total (not leaving anyone out).

Although the flame wars tend to become boring quickly, the site itself has not lost its appeal. This is still the only site where you can get input from lots of girls, some porn stars, some escorts, some just living the life. We can dream about a trip to NYC to rub elbows with the girls at Allanahs' & Sunnys' parties. We can see opinions by some intelligent members as well as a few morons. Sometimes funny, sometimes serious, sometimes stupid but there's almost always something interesting. Oh yeah, and there's the pictures. Although I'm not much of a wordsmith, I do occasionally pipe in my opinions. But would we still be here if the site had lost its appeal. I think not.

HA plays a part in my life now, where people can interact with REAL pornstars ffs, not many others can readily do that I imagine. Sure, there are twats on here that just want to argue with their own shadow but hey-ho that's life as they say. :roll:

First of all your {aka weird science} is another example of an attempt to fuel discontent. But on to your question on whether there is a relationship to two questions - "HA losing it's appeal" and "Are you sick of flamewars ...". There is a relationship between the two. There are some folks who want to read a thread without running across a hi-jack and then watch it denegrate into a flamewar thus ruining the site's appeal. Did I mean to present it like this ... yes. I do not get emotional on matters of this nature.


Did I think HA would benefit ... no! As with the vast majority of the posts on this forum there are no benefits other than conversation and entertainment to the posters or the lurkers (I didn't say all but the majority). My poll is merely a query (not queery) to solicit opinions.

You are right, I have posted a couple of times in attack threads but then realized there was no value or benefit to me or the forum. Lastly, I am not bitching to the mods about their site (our site - without posters there would be no forum). I do not want Forum Nazis moderating a site that can easily be moderated by its members by simply following basic common sense - respect, courtesy, and civility towards others.

Intelligent responses, since they voted in favor of what's most plausible, but only about twenty in aggregate.

But did the thread get in the way of the other conversation? No. It didn't. It could have been annoying, but four of the five threads were new and one was a dead thread resurrected. So then what's the issue?

Xrey reveals it in his post. He doesn't want to see these threads because he's threatened by other people arguing and berating each other. He's threatened by vocabularies consisting of polysyllabic words, and he wanted some backlash against the people getting into arguments. It was an anti-flame thread that was intended to help him take the moral high ground, while casting blame on people who have had to deal with unstable trolls.

The truth is Rod La Rod started the argument by overreacting. He could have ended it any point by shutting up. He didn't. That said, if I've helped debase the discourse, then I apologize for my role in it. But myself Night Rider, and Lust4ts were not the worst offenders.
