Generally speaking, the free ads bring you more scum. At least if a girl has to pay for an ad, it does several things:

1) There's a record of payment; this inhibits some of the ultra shady in that there is some way of tracking back to them if it gets really bad.

2) The simple act of paying for it makes the advertiser more serious about it.

3) There's a lag factor: no instant gratification or the flip, instant desperation. The latter which can lead to trouble: desperate people do desperate things.

The above said, if you're not religious, I think it's a good day for girl who are lonely and need $ to hook up with guys who are lonely and have $. Maybe even a chance they could both have a day of more humanity, with each giving the other what they need and not being as shady as both sides often get.
