Everyone should Read your local statute (or anyone else's). Almost none use the word "money" as the sole determinant. It's usually anything of value. I don't know why escorting is illegal in the first place in USA. If two mature adults want to engage in sex for cash, then that's between them. The fact that it's illegal causes more problems i.e std risks, safety issues.
