woman, escort whatever..LOL

Girls that won't eat at McDonalds, won't shop at K-mart, ride public transportation, cannot hold a decent job, cannot cook etc. LOL

What is your definition of an "Upscale woman"? And do you like them? ;)

At the risk of sounding cocky, an upscale girl is the type of woman who is going to be able to keep up with me.

LOL @ all of those

A) any lady wholl eat mcdonald once in a while is good in my book. Red lobster is expensive
b)ok kmart is low brow, but have you see the price of shit these days? $80 for jeans O.O
c)damn it, with gas prices getting ready to hit the sky, public trans will remain my primary mode of travel till i 1) win the lottery or 2)become a millionaire some other way
d)ok i can feel a job. holding a good job (ie not fast food or retail clerk related) is important
e)seems like woman these days try NOT to learn to cook, and for a guy who was raised old school, i need a woman who can work her majic in the kitchen. If i learned how to cook, and cook well for any taste(maybe not to the standard of emiril or dude from Hells kitchen) i need someone who can cook with me.
ok im done ranting :P

but to answer the original question, upscale to me just means striving to be better than the status quo, and never settling for someone elses leftovers.

Sounds just like my Jessica... sort of...

She has a good job (or did till she left me to earn the bread while she improves her mind - christ, she was talking to me in Latin today...)

Demands I give her sex whenever she wants it, since she's not getting much on the outside right now...sheesh we did it on the floor in front of the TV yesterday... while watching MythBusters...

Feeds me when she feels like it...

Bathes me - we take baths together every night after our jacuzzi time.

Gives me foot and back massages every day.

Is that true love or what?

Giggle,

Examples:
Halley Berry, Liz Taylor, and Liv Tyler = women of class
Paris, Brittany, and company = rich trailer trash

An upscale girl...

Wears a Rolex, not because it's flashy, but because it's understated elegance.

Wears real diamond studs, and gold or silver, not costume jewlery - because second best isn't good enough for her.

Is always just slightly the best and most tastefully dressed person wherever she goes.

Drives a Mercedez, or other luxury car, not because she's flaunting her wealth, but because it drives nice and is quiet and comfortable. But isn't afraid to get on the trolley if it's expediant.

Doesn't use curse words (I have to work on that one...) but has no problem sassing you when necessary.

Takes care of her appearance.

Is educated and intelligent and can carry on a conversation, without dominating it.

And an upscale girl isn't afraid to say she likes having sex, and is willing to prove it!

Giggle,
TS Jamie :-)

Fair enough. So here's a follow up question? LOL Sounds like the E channel :lol:

Is being upscale a birthright, a result of upbringing/breeding or is it something ANYONE can work upon?

Blckhaze note:

a. I eat at McDonald's every now and then. I don't see anything wrong with that.
b. I also shop at K-Mart. Because I'm a smart shopper. Why would anyone pay for things double it's price unless of course it's designer jeans and whatnot I'm shopping for then I go outlet shopping. I would never pay full price for designer duds! LOL
c. I don't drive and use public transportation. And I never complained about it. Especially, cos I meet a lot of cute guys on my way to work or home! Haha ;)
d. I can hold on a job. The problem is the job won't let me go that easy.
e. And I do know how to cook. Can't be just a pretty face you know! :P

In response to your answers
A) Halleluah
b) AMEN!!!
and c) FINALLY!!! lol

upscale is something you truly earn. upscale isnt just striving to have money, but also have respect for those before you and awareness of those who will follow your example
examples: pars hilton = not upscale imo
oprah=very, very high scale.

its not how you start this race called life, its how you end it.

justatransgirl

Yes, being upscale is something anyone can develop because I look at Jessica, who grew up in a poor rural area and has impeccable manners, education and also enjoys the finer things in life, but is always gracefully polite.

And I grew up in Orange County - home of the neuvo riche trailer trash. So I'm part upscale and part tramp... the perfect mix... giggle.

MORE:
An upscale girl enjoys fine dining, but isn't above hitting the fast food joint. (I do draw the line at macdonalds, thanks...) In and Out Burger and a shake at 1 am yes!

An upscale girl shops at Neiman's and wears Prada and St. John, and Roxy and Bebe... but buys her jeans at K-mart because she's too smart to pay $240 for a $24 pair of pants...

An upscale girl prefers a suite at the Grand Hyatt, but isn't against camping out with friends. But you won't find her at a 6-motel or camping under a bridge under any circumstances.

And she knows how to cook, but has better things to do, unless it's cooking for her man.

An upscale girl isn't above riding the bus but she doesn't by choice, nor does she take a taxi, she calls a town car.

And an upscale ESCORT, has a job. A very good job!

TS Jamie :-)

Similar distinction to the one I made between upscale and class, Jamie. The adjective upscale, simply put, means "appropriate to people with good incomes" (though of course, the scale varies depending upon whether you're in Paris or Duluth). A snob is arrogant and annoying, particularly if he or she is wealthy and flaunts it disrepectfully. Someone with class may or may not have a lot of money, but does exhibit good breeding, fine manners, excellent taste and style, and elegance of being.

I agree, Halle, Liz and Liv are women of class (though Halle can portray a woman of low class very well). Brittney is neuveau riche trailer trash, whereas Paris is a rich snob who acts like trailer trash (yes, a subtle distinction, but for all Brittney's flaws, I find her less offensive than Paris).

To return to Hara's question, an upscale woman (or escort, which is only a job description and not a measure of class) is one who demands the finer things, probably a little beyond her reach (many upscale people carry huge debt), but a woman of class is one who favors the finer things but is also comfortable in other settings and doesn't measure a person's worth by the brand of jeans she wears.

Oh - there you go throwing big words around again... giggle. :-)

But very well put. Exactly, a person of class exhibits it whether at the Waldorf or at a homless shelter. Remember the Ruyard Kippling poem "IF" "If you can walk with kings, but not lose the common touch..."

Off topic - speaking of kings, I met Prince Charles once, what a pompus ass. We were at a private reception and his security people were like telling us where to stand and how to act. I was like, "dude, this might shock you but we aren't his subjects - our great grand daddies kicked your great grand daddies asses, so shut the Fk up, or swim home..." But since I am a person of class and breeding, I didn't say it. :-) :-)

Upscale people with huge debt are not "upscale" they are neuveau (thank you for the spelling correction Ecstatic...) - the neuveau riche or as the "Millionaire Next Door" book says, "Big hat, no cattle..."

Like a lot of the boys on this site - "big dick - no money..." which returns us to discussing upscale hookers...

Giggle,
TS Jamie :-)

Also a upscale girl is one who has goals and aims for them, manners, respectful , gets respected, and is focused. Girls that won't eat at McDonalds,

HTG

There are people who eat at McDonalds? Oh dear oh dear. I thought that was just for threatening kids who won't eat their vegetables. Anyway.

Upscale: Polite, intelligent, educated;

knows the differences between a Monet and a Manet;

Knows what the term "Renaissance" means;

Knows that Jackson Pollock was not a second-rate C&W crossover act;

Has some understanding that music was not invented in 2003;

Knows that a book is not just for stopping the door open;

Does not turn up to the opera, ballet etc in jeans;

If her first language is one of the versions of English, she knows the differences between torturous and tortuous and
enormousness and enormity; actually realises that the letter "h" is sounded in English and that it is incorrect to use "an" before words beginning with it;

Knows to switch off her phone when entering a restaurant/art gallery/theatre/concert hall and LEAVES IT THAT WAY (By all means checks messages when she "powders her nose.") Phones are okay in the cocktail bar, long conversations on them are not;

Does not attempt to chew her filet and talk at the same time; multiply by an order of magnitude if what's in her mouth is gum;

Realises that one does not chug a glass of D.O.C. in one go and that while everyone loves a beer, we do not drink it with Sole Meuniere;

Will not attempt to draw the waiter's attention and do the ordering while I am still reading the menu;

Will not give me a funny look when I take her coat, hold the door open for her, hail the taxi, ask if she's quite comfortable;

Does not start political/religious rows at dinner (debates over brandy only);

Knows how to use alcohol-- ie, enough to be relaxed, not so much heels become challenging to walk on.

That'll get us past "Go."

And FWIW, Hara, I'm entirely certain you knew all of the above already.

Methinks this provision is rather dated, as with the advent (at least here in the colonies) of a widely diverse array of craft brews, combining beer or ale with the finest cuisine is quite appropos. Many fine restaurants now feature an extensive selection of microbrews as well as a fully-stocked wine cellar.

GARCON! LAGER, S'IL VOUS PLAIT! FORGET WINE--TODAY'S FINE DINING CALLS FOR BEER. (http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fortune/fortune_archive/1997/04/14/224969/index.htm)

I see where all you gals are coming from. Too many (younger) woman in my walk of life mistake being upscale with being rich. there is nothing wrong with kmart or mcd's, but girls (not women) want alot of things handed to them. My chivalry and gentlemans card end there. I'm all for working my ass off for a quality woman so that she doesnt have to, but i need to know that if something happens to me, she'll be able to hit the ground at least walking if not running.

c. I have not driven since I was 20 - so I always take a taxi or car serive and I do ride the train if its more convinient.

d. I have a career.
.
e. I cook every day- several times somedays for my boyfriend and I. I know it's hard to believe but he brought out the cook in me. Wow sister we have more in common than I thought! And cooking, how cunty!!! I never learned. My mother wanted me to be a manly man, lol, so la cocina was out of the question. Guess I will never be a good housewife, oh well! My grandmother had a rule about shoes and purses, thats what fueled my love and need for quality designer shoes and bags, just I have big feet. If I was a size smaller I would need another room in my place just for my shoes.

woman, escort whatever..LOL

Girls that won't eat at McDonalds, won't shop at K-mart, ride public transportation, cannot hold a decent job, cannot cook etc. LOL

What is your definition of an "Upscale woman"? And do you like them? ;)

An upscale girl is one who can do anything, but with class. I'm reminded of Jackie O. I would see her all the time growing up. She would ride around in a beat up old VW Bug, wear a big floppy hat, and old sandals...it took nothing away from her. She could've dressed in burlap sack and begged for food and she would still be classy.

That's what upscale, class is...it's inside. It has absolutely nothing to do with where you eat, what you wear, what you look like, or what you drive. It's about respecting yourself and all around you.

so, basically, she can eat at McDonald's or not eat at McDonald's. She can shop at K-mart or not shop there. She can ride public transportation or not ride it. She cannot hold a decent job or she can. She can cook or she can't cook. she can 'etc' or she cannot 'etc'. She can do whatever. It won't affect who she truly is, because she sees all people, treats all situations the same...and she is not above anything or anyone.

but to answer the original question, upscale to me just means striving to be better than the status quo, and never settling for someone elses leftovers.
No guy can top this answer. You are so on point with that. Shit, I will walk my Prada and Lucky jeaned ass to McDonalds, eat, take public transportation to Bloomies and shop, its good to mix it up sometimes!

First of all there's a difference between an upscale girl and a snob. An upscale girl has good breeding and class. A snob is trailer trash with money.

snob = "sine nobilitate" = "without nobility". Supposedly students at Oxbridge had their letterboxes designated by the porters as "nob" or "snob" to distinguish the titled from the untitled students.

Class: The girl that has a smile and a "hello, how are you today" for the guy she sees sweeping the pavement outside her 5th Av. apartment every day.
Crass: The girl who isn't aware of his existence.

Class: The woman that manages to make the humblest abode welcoming and friendly with personal touches and a vase of fresh flowers.
Crass: The woman who tells her interior designer "Look, I a want Ralph Lauren meets designer minimalism look, and I want it featured in Architectural Digest!"

Class: Inherited furniture.
Crass: The sort of person that has to buy their own.

Class: The girl that brings a modest bouquet of flowers she picked herself.
Crass: The girl that orders a $200 one from the chi-chi florist.

Class: The girl that can kick off her heels and dance on the table with the rest of the guys and still remain a lady.
Crass: The girl that can't do so without vomitingand passing out drunk.

Class: The girl that does the school run in a 20 year old muddy Landrover smelling of wet dog because it's handy for the weekend run to the country estate, where it actually gets driven up to the grouse moors.
Crass: Lexus, Merc, Beamer SUV's (aka Chelsea Tractors) driven by yummy mummies

Class: The woman that has her evening gowns made by that "wonderful man in Pimlico" who has been the tailor to the cognoscenti for a couple of generations.
Crass: Prada, Gucci, Versace et al.

Class: The woman that can alter that old dress herself, adding a few bit and pieces and look fabulous in it at the reception.
Crass: The girl that can't imagine going to that reception in anything but a new dress.

Class: The woman that pays every bit as much attention to her friends awkward, plain Jane teenage daughter at the party as to anybody else. And makes sure she gets introduced.
Crass: The woman who would rather talk to the good looking guy in the corner because life is just to short to deal with ugly people.

Class: The hostess who, on seeing her guest using the steak knife on the fish-starter, drops her fish knife and uses same.
Crass: Woman who doesn't.

Class: Orders room service for breakfast because she wouldn't be seen dead outside without her lipstick.
Crass: Goes to the breakfast buffet in her (designer) track suit and trainers with no make-up.
