I had to switch users because I pressed something on my keyboard and keys "uiopklm" are all different keys i.e. numbers, *'s and things like that.

Anyone know what I've done and how to fix it? I tried a system restore but it didn't work.

Sounds like a laptop that you activated the numpad on. Just turn off the num lock and it should return em to normal.

It sounds as if you have switched from a QWERTY keyboard layout to a Dvorak keyboard layout. (http://www.wikihow.com/Switch-to-a-Dvorak-Keyboard-Layout)

The Dvorak keyboard layout, designed for speed and efficiency by Dr.
August Dvorak in the 1930s, can increase typing speed and decrease
finger fatigue. It places all the vowels in the left hand of the home row
and the most commonly used consonants in the right hand of the home
row. Because the frequently-used letters are right there underneath your
fingertips and the next most common are directly above, typing involves
much less reaching. In this sample paragraph, 70% of the letters are on
the home row in Dvorak, with 15% top and 15% bottom. In QWERTY 30%
are on the home row. Beware, it takes a little getting used to, especially if
you're transitioning from a standard QWERTY keyboard

See also http://www.dcn.davis.ca.us/~sander/mensa/dvorak1.html to
correct the problem.

You're quite welcome.

This will aid your m8s with changing it for the various operating sytems. (http://www.mwbrooks.com/dvorak/support.html)

What kind of lappie? On my old Dell you just pressed the NumLock key and a light came on. Press it again and the keypad reverted.

I've just tried that and it's worked. I don't believe how stupid I was not to just try that in the first place.

Cheers.

Hey Night Rider. You must be using a Laptop. You have turned on the Number Lock. On laptops uiopjklm become numbers. Hit the Number Lock key again to revert to QWERTY style keyboard.

Look closely at the keys I mentioned and you will note numbers as well as the letters. All you have to do is toggle the Number Lock key to go back and forth between the letters and numbers on those keys. This was done on laptops because most lack a Number Pad.

Good luck and let me know how things work out. :D
