Microsoft is celebrating the fifth anniversary of Xbox Live by giving Xbox 360 owners Carcassonne, and a system upgrade that will allow full Xbox games to be downloaded!

Xbox Originals launches December 4th, and will allow the purchase of full, old-school titles like Halo, Psychonauts, Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge, Fable and many others. These games will be available for 1,200 Microsoft Points (Or 15 bucks).

Plus, for you OGs out there who have been around since the service launched in 2002, you'll be getting 500 free M'soft points to spend as you'd like!

“In just five short years, Xbox LIVE has revolutionized the way friends and family have fun in the living room,” said John Schappert, corporate vice president of LIVE, software and services at Microsoft. “On its fifth birthday, Xbox LIVE truly is the place for hanging out with friends and enjoying downloadable TV shows, movies, videos, game add-ons and now downloadable Xbox games on demand.”

Carcassonne will be available for download between 12:01 PST on November 15th and 11:59 pm on November 16th

You gonna admit though that they kinda copied the psn network with this service.

Although I believe Wii had plans for this sort of thing first. But on the other hand, the Xbox360 was also the first system with online support even when not in an online game.

I think ps3 was the first to announce downloadable games but really each console has copied something from each other.

It sounds more like Microsoft has found a way do distibute their games without the need for a video game store. I'm sure it will just be a matter of time before you will be able to download a new release. And I'll bet the cost of the game will still be whatever the full retail cost is.

I dunno dan, I think they might drop the price about 10 or 15 off the new releases, or maybe they wont, but if thet do start releasing them for download, I'm gonna need me a 120 gig HD
