What are your favorite scary movies? In general, and any ones you like to just pull out, dust off, and watch around Halloween? I tend to throw these in around this time of year.
1. Halloween
The original, obviously. Kind of tame by today's standards I guess but still a good, creepy movie.
2. Fright Night
A great vampire movie. Sort of campy and spoofy but it has it's scary moments. A guilty pleasure from the 80's.
3. Dawn of the Dead
The original rocked. And the remake wasn't half bad either.
4. The Thing
Just all-around creepy.
5. Silence of the Lambs
Is it a horror movie? Thriller? Crime epic? Not sure. But it creeps me the hell out everytime I watch it...with fava beans!
6. The Exorcist
The king (or queen?) of all scary movies. Just a visceral test of endurance. If it wasn't as well-made as it is, I'd never watch it again.
7. Carnival of Souls
Kind of obscure, but well-worth seeking out. Eerie movie.
8. Pet Sematary
Not the best Stephen King movie, but somehow it manages to freak me out.
9. The Funhouse
Another guilty pleasure from the 80's. Well-made and disturbing.
10. Wolf Creek
The only recent movie I can think of worth mentioning here. More serial slasher flick than horror, but a good one.
