Japanese pilots in WW2 used to take ICE when flying on long missions. Though it wasn't the kind that melted, But it might make your water taste funny!

I will say that it helped me to once write a 25 page scientific term paper (in under 12 hours) on "High CuSo4 [Copper Sulfate] concentrations and it's affect on Algal populations"...
