My top 3 would be:
3.Fast Times at Ridgemont High
2.The Great Rock and Roll Swindle
1.Quadraphenia

Remeber it's not just the music. It's the context in the movie.

1. "Kill Bill vol 1" -- the 5,6,7,8s were so bad, they were good
2. "Blade Runner" -- just like the mood
3. "Star Wars Episode 4" -- Because it raised the bar (for Sci Fi, at least)

Well, I'd have to put my two favorite musicals at the top of the list : The Blues Brothers and South Park. My next favorite would have to be the Pulp Fiction soundtrack. Mahalo

The Good The Bad and the Ugly>>>>>>I like most of ennio morricone western scores.

Good call there. In addition to the Spaghetti Western score mentioned, I love all the stuff that Goblin does for Argento movies and other Dego Horror.

I also downloaded a combo soundtrack to Cannibal Ferox/Zombie that's awesome.

there are only a few

John Barry`s work was always great (several James Bond classics, as well as his theme from "Jaws")

Fight Club was good too

John Carpenter , for instance "Attack on Precinct 13"

"Shaft" of course

Kubrick put lots of efforts into the music of his movies as well

ps: I absolutley hate the oh so cool n toungue in cheek Tarantino. he only impresses the "cool-mongers" that dont know shit about popular culture and its fundamentals and history.

except for "Jackie Brown", which was undoubtedly great

Shaft (Isaac Hayes)
Superfly (Curtis Mayfield)
Coffy (Roy Ayers)
Purple Rain (Prince, duh)
Parade: Under The Cherry Moon (yeah, the movie sucked, but Prince was on top of his game with the soundtrack)
School Daze (Various Artists)
Jackie Brown (Various Artists)
Pleasantville (lots of good jazz on there)
A Tribute To Jack Johnson (a Miles Davis album)
Dead Presidents, volume 1 & 2 (Various Artists)
All of the soundtracks from Friday and its sequels
Trouble Man (Marvin Gaye)
Black Caesar (James Brown did this one. The Boss is on there)
South Park: Chef Aid (some funny and well performed tracks on there)
Death Wish (Herbie Hancock)
Street Lady (Donald Byrd. Actually not a soundtrack to a movie, but plays like one)
The Big Chill (The Deluxe edition. Lots of good oldies...although they are all from before I was born)
Of course Saturday Night Fever. Thank God It's Friday is another good one if you like disco.

As you can see, I lean more toward the urban/blaxploitation genre.

Willie- Only one to mention of The Big Chill - CUDOS!!
Big Chill was great, didn't Apocoylpse Now (sp?) have a great soundtrack? If not, the drugs and alcohol I did in high schoool just caught up with me.
