The cops have gotten so out of shape that these days it's easier for them to taze someone so they don't have to run after them and end up having a heart attack themselves.

Nice....so if your impaired and run away now you get tasered..

"Modern taser-type weapons fire small dart-like electrodes with attached metal wires that connect to the gun, propelled by small gas charges similar to some air rifle propellants. The maximum range is up to 10 meters (30 feet). Earlier models of Taser needed the dart-like electrodes to embed in the skin and superficial muscle tissues layers; newer versions of the projectiles use a shaped pulse/arc of electricity which disrupt nerve and muscle function without needing the metal prongs on the projectile to penetrate the skin. Early models had difficulty in penetrating thick clothing, but the 'pulse' models are designed to bring down a subject wearing up to a Level III body armor vest.[citation needed]"

Also, if you think Electroshock weapons are non-lethal, think again. Consider Amnesty Internationals in depth report on Electroshock weapons.....

I think even the least knowlegeable among us would agree that getting electrocuted is bad for you right?/

The parents can't even take care of their own damn kid. And yet they want the cops to be mind readers and know his medical history... as the kid is ready to run out into traffic.

I call this one a wash.

(I REALLY, REALLY want a tazer gun. That battery would be worn out in a day.)

To you fans of tasers, there is now a shotgun model, sans the umbilical.

The shells carry their own power source and extend the range significantly.

As I live in a tiny village where the guns outnumber the stray cats and chickens combined, I wouldn't mind having one of these should one of my neighbors come calling.

Nice, let's put the cops in an unwinnable situation.

If the cops do nothing he get's hit by a car, or hurt in some other way, the mother sues the officer(s), Orange County , and the Orange County PD for the triple whammy of unnecessary lawsuits.

Seriously, what should they have done? Nothing? Tailed the young man until his mommy arrived? Give me a break. I'm with TrueBeauty on this, criticizing the cops is requiring them to be perfect mind readers.

I'll take tasering over road pizza any day. Hell, I'd taser my own kid to prevent her from getting hit by a car.

so why the new thread on tasering when we've already got one going? someone not like the direction of the old thread?

It's because we so like quantity over quality. :P

But you knew that already.
