Non TG question- Miami Vice the movie

I was a big fan of the Miami Vice Tv show (yes i know the last season sucked) and ive seen a few episodes recently on the sleuth channel. It still holds up, the show is still as good as it used to be surprisingly, The music, the camera shots the ambiance, the pace, everything. Now... I watched the movie and let me tell you, Well Jamie Fox was great in it but the other guy Colin Farrel he just ruined it. His acting is so wooden, he spoke as if he had marbles in his mouth. The film just dragged. Big let down. But anyway who would you cast as Sonny Crocket? Thats what i was getting at.

By the way, the best PI show ever? The Rockford Files imo. Great characters, great directing, and great scripts. :)

Worst? Wow, there are too many. Probably Magnum PI for starters.

as much as i love collin i hate jamie even more.. jamie ruined it for me far more then collin did... the show stands out on its own and shouldnt be compared w/ the movie bc youll only ruin them both and be dissapointed... look at them as two very different subjects... they pretty much are -j

I don't think you can just blame Colin Farrell. The entire cast lacked character. The entire color theme was unremarkable (compared to the pastels of the TV show). There was no one who had the character of any of the TV three main roles (Don Johnson, Philip Michael Thomas, and Edward James Olmos). The bad guys weren't even that memorable. I mean I can still see that guy shooting two Mac 10s from the original show... I can't even think of what the bad guy looked like in the movie.

But, if I had to look for a Sonny Crockett, I'd go with Josh Hartnett; or better still, some unknown character actor.
