NYC Visitor Asks: Fri or Sat Parties?

I'm in DC and would appreciate any guidance about attending Fri vs. Sat (I can't do both). Any comments are welcome but as a tourist I'm especially wondering if one is any better for meeting a girl to take back to your hotel for "a drink," etc?
