Black Tgirls was the fifth site in the Grooby portfolio (it now ranks as the fourth as Bob’s Tgirls broke away to pursue it’s own illustrious path) yet has been one of our most successful sites with some of the most dedicated members.

When Greg first suggested the idea of a site specifically showing black shemales I didn’t think it would work. Not because of the content matter but the fact that in 1998/1999 it was near impossible getting black models in the US to do photoshoots. We had featured some black models on Shemale Yum including the lovely Lisa Kage but the amount of models contacting us were few and far between. We set Tony Vee to work to try and dig out more models and commissioned some from Luiz in Brazil (although we were adamant that the site would not become a “Brazilian Black” website).
We now have over 600 unique models on Black Tgirls from the US, Canada, UK and Brazil and are contacted weekly by new models wanting to be part of the site. We have members who first joined in 1999 and are still with us.
For the first few years, the content was almost solely shot in the US by Tony Vee, Video Bob and Vegas Bob - we now have about 12 photographers shooting regularly for this site, including significantly, three black photographers producing some excellent content. We started regular hardcore shoots last year and this has strengthened the site and given more value for the membership dollar.
There is other black shemale content out there but if you are a fan of Black transgender adult content, there is no other outlet that comes close to Black Tgirls, just take a look at the previews!

... Shemale Yum had been online for less than a year and I'd just started to gather material for Ladyboy Ladyboy so was looking for someone to aide me with it, in London, who could scan and correct the images. A quick interview over a couple of beers in a pub in central London, I discovered not only a fellow porn lover but who was soon to become one of my best friends.

Trigger and I have worked together for over 9 yrs, we've travelled to Brazil, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Cuba, across the US and back a few times together and has some laughs, some scrapes (not with each other), multiple parties and plenty of shemale related adventures. He's seen his percentage of the company (first paycheck was 120 quid in cash) grow substantially with the business as he's pushed the business forward with photography being something he's always done more on the side.


I'm happy to see that he's shooting more British tgirls for this site and it's indictive of the scene that's emerging in the UK, starting with Joanna Jet we now have more cuties like Becky, Jennifer English, Barbie, etc. and Trigger is helping to realize more models into Shemale Yum and the internet.

I'm not sure if there would not be a Shemale Yum without the Commander, maybe some other horny, gun toting, beer drinking, NY replanted to Texas would have came along - and maybe he would have made tranny hunting trips South of the border into the now outlaw town of Laredo ... and then again, maybe they wouldn't have. There have been pretenders to the title of Tranny Hunter but the true original is The Commander.

Shemale Yum started as a site with users giving their personal or collected images for the site - at this time it was a free site - and one of the first users to submit some photos of tgirls he'd met in the PI & Texas, was the Commander. I recall maybe 15 images, mostly non-nudes but the emails and traffic went crazy when they appeared on the site.

The Commander took a trip to Laredo and mailed me rolls of 35mm film, which I then took to Joe's Basement in London to have printed and manually scanned them into the PC - to get on the website. This was pre-digital camera days. The resulting photosets were the first TS content shot exclusively for an internet website as far as I am aware. This is where not only Shemale Yum started but pretty much the birth of every other gonzo photographer of TS material for online use - and by proxy, every other Transsexual porn site. Day Zero.

As I missed yesterdays (Friday’s update) due to another committment, we see two Birthday girls on todays Birthday Special. They’re both called Tina - and they’ve both worked for us multiple times. As part of our Birthday month, we’re doing two Girls of the Month, for August but if we had more room I would have also squeezed Carmen in as a Girl of the Month as she’s so much of what we like at Shemale Yum, fresh, new, cute and fun. In the 10 years since I’ve been at the helm of this site, I don’t know how many new girls we’ve showcased on the site (but will try and do a count!) but it’s always exciting to get someone new whom I know is going to set the internet on fire.

Most sites out there, which I don’t have to name, base their shooting schedules on who they see is popular on our site. They let our budget dollar take the risk and then when they see a popular model, step in and offer a shoot to capitalise on it. It’s a good business plan but it’s also the reason they’ll always be behind us. When we can get models like Khloe, Katt, Carmen on this weeks update, Girl of the Month’s Nadja or Kamely then I’m going to be more excited, the photographers get a bigger kick out of doing their jobs and the paying members, know that although we may take some risks, most of the time it pays off - sometimes ten fold when we showcase these special girls first.

… or “The Tenacious Vee” as I’ve been calling him lately has probably done more to promote and bring new tgirl models to the public eye than any other person - period. He’s been working with me for over 8 years and his stamina. vigour and ability to get the newest, freshest models no matter if he is in his home city of NY or on a travel to Florida, California, Boston, Chicago or Canada, always amazed me. When other photographers go to a brand new city on a shooting trip they might come back with 7 models over a 5 day period, Tony will return with 20.Responsible for bringing models like Lisa Kage, Amber Vaughn, Aniyah Red, Allanah Starr, Carmen Cruz and more to the internet for the first time, his real quality for me, if continuing to find new fresh talent - and the ability to never take a potential models refusal to pose, as a final answer.

I’ve shared some great adventures with Tony over the years, the first video we shot in NYC together (Kitty, Lisa Kage, Amanda, BamBam, etc.), shooting in a public park in Long Island, stumbling out of Rudy’s Bar in Manhatten after a few drinks in the afternoon and literally tripping over a tranny - 20 mins later we’re shooting her in her apartment.

In the beginning ... In Ye Olde Days of Internet ... Back yonder ... 10 years ago, most of the adult websites were ran by amateur horny guys and girls like myself. I started Shemale Yum for fun and it grew into the Grooby company it is today. The best sites were ones ran by amateur type Tgirls who found a place to show themselves off. These were pre-2257 laws so those photos propigated fast and I'm sure many of you will remember with fondness, Stephanie Yume, Alyssa (she wore a schoolgirl outfit), very early Joanna Jet and other solo girls whose photos were the only source to new material that many of us had. Frankly, it was more exciting back then, the amount of material we get in now is overkill and the market is saturated by bodacious, big assed shemales from Brazil and tight brown cuties from Thailand. I only get excited when I see someone fresh and hot come along, like Khloe Hart - or Carmen, Nadja or Kamely whom we updated on Saturday. Most of the shemale websites are now operated by large corporations, who have no interest in the genre or anything to do with transsexuals apart from the bottom dollar. They don't shoot for themselves, they buy the cheapest material they can and they spend the money on promotion and attracting affiliates with massive payouts. Mid-sized companies like Grooby do okay because we appeal to the more discerning customer, or those who've tried the other sites. It's good to see that there are still other sites out there, like Bobs Tgirls who are still continuing to shoot new content and stay true to their origins.

So what happened to the solo girls who started their sites 10 years ago? I don't think any of them have much of a web presence any longer but their are new girls, who are starting their own sites and creating great personal content.
In many ways sites like Nikki TS Fun are far more exciting than sites like ours. You know the girls are for real and behind the site, you can see that they are genuinely horny and into it - and often you can request specific looks or styles from them.
So who is Nikki TS? She's a hot and horny little Filipino girl, based in California but has travelled abroad to shoot with her partner, actions scenes in which she's jumped into bed (or onto the cocks) of other sex shemales, guys and girls. They've been running their own site Nikki TS Fun for over a year and have some great photos and videos there. Shemale Yum had been running less than a year when I was contacted by a member who claimed to know many of the tgirls in California and to see if we would work out a deal where he shot content for the site. When he mentioned some of the girls he could get, I jumped at the chance and soon Shemale Yum was featuring, the first internet photosets of girls who were already video stars. Models like Meghan Chevalier, Kimberly Devine, Shana, Gina, Geneva, Barbie Woods, etc. found themselves on the internet with a whole world of new fans!

It wasn’t long before Bob decided he wanted to steer his own ship, and in 1998 Bobs-Tgirls.com (http://refer.ccbill.com/cgi-bin/clicks.cgi?CA=918160-0000&PA=812719) was created to showcase only girls Bob shot in his own “Playboy-like” style. The site was part of the Grooby company for a short-time before Bob and I, parted ways. We’ve remained very friendly over the years (when other webmasters who tried to cause problems came and went) and helped each other as well met up a number of times in Los Angeles, usually at Peanuts (Club 7969), where he is a regular fixture. I last saw him, in April when Frank, Buddy Wood, the lovely Khloe Hart and I were in Los Angeles. I introduced Khloe to Bob and suggested that they work together, Bob mis-heard what I said and was very elusive to Khloe all night (although I give her more than enough attention!) - it was only a few weeks later, he spoke to me and thought that Khloe was my girlfriend (who is a gender girl). When a seasoned Tgirl hunter like Bob, cannot spot a girl - she’s got to be very good!

Although Bobs-Tgirls.com (http://refer.ccbill.com/cgi-bin/clicks.cgi?CA=918160-0000&PA=812719) now features both Thai and Brazilian girls, usually shot by somebody other than Bob, it is the shoots that he does - of Californian girls or girls visiting Los Angeles which have kept his members loyal and his fans coming back. Pretty much everybody has seen samples of Bob’s work over the years but if you haven’t joined his site, I un-reservedly, recommend it. Like Grooby, he only has exclusive content and works with the models with whom he has gained a lot of respect. His site has started updating daily (or almost daily) and at $19.95 a month, it’s pretty much the best deal out there.

Photographer Profile : Craig in Canada. Our resident photographer in Canada, Craig has been working with us for a good few years. An avid roller-blader, ice hockey player and advocate of all things Canadian, he even tried exported his Canadianess to Thailand & Brazil when we he's joined us on some recent trips, needless to say the tgirls he met there, haven't been the same since.

Not many people realise that Grooby took over Tgirltalk Forum over a year ago and during the time we’ve had it, it’s grown substantially to be a forum for tgirls and those who are interested in the genre. Photographer Profile : Steve in Atlanta.

Steve has been working with us surprisingly long, he can drop out and concentrate on his real life for long periods of time but then comes back with a selection of new models to surprise and amaze. He's mainly been working the Atlanta and New Oreans sorts of areas but has been known to stray further afield.

He's actually the first black photographer that we've had working with us and he mainly gets models for Black Tgirls he has produced a fair amount of talent that find's it's way onto this site. Frank and I met Steve in New Orleans a few years back - with Amie Lee, Sexy Jade and Malon to do some photoshoots and had a great time, he's a very cool, smart guy who is one of the younger members of the Grooby crew. Frank has also been to Atlanta, where Steve helped him set up shoots of local talent.

The girls seem to like him a lot and although we've had a few technical hits and misses over the years, his quality seems to be up to a level now where most of the members love it. The fact, that he shoots from gonzo point of view (again the first black photographer that I know to be doing this with TS) as well as shooting a lot of black-on-black hardcore action, has really pleased a great deal of members and he has a good fan following.
My aim for 2008 is to lock him into doing more work as well as getting some new DVD's out. This is the guy who first discovered, Amie Lee, Sexy Jade, Elexa, Katie Coxx and a whole bunch of new, hot black talent who have all went the way of Hollywood! It's always hard finding new photographers who come through. I probably get 20+ enquiries a month from guys who swear they can do the job and find the models from all over the world and yet only 3-4 photographers a year actually produce anything. Shooters like Tony Vee, the Commander, Craig have been with us a long time and even when I think of newer photographers like Steve in Atlanta or Frank Drachman, when I look, they've been with us for years.
2007 has turned out pretty positive for new photographers so far - in the Florida area has been producing some very nice new material of reshoots as well as a few new ones, Remy has found his niche with some cuties from Virginia area, P.K.Vegas is really turning out the goods for both this site and other projects like Asian American Girls and he's found some of the most impressive models of this year - and new photographer Dirty South is also working the Atlanta and South, shooting mainly black models for Black Tgirls. Photographer Profile: Frank Drachman
Frank has been associated with Grooby since almost the beginning, he designed the very first incarnation of the site (grooby.com)

He has been a sporadic photographer for the site but a few years back he started becoming more prolific with us, shooting models in the Portland, Seattle area with occassional visits elsewhere. His shoots are clean, very nicely lit and shot and portray a gentler style of photography than most of the shooters for the site - one reason many of the girls like working with him. He was the first to do a proper shoot with one of my favourite models Krissy Tgirl and he also runs and works with many of the girls solo sites, including Mandy, Aly Sinclair and today’s birthday girl, the lovely Morgan through his company, Tgirl Alliance.

Frank has been instrumental in bringing a new type of tgirl to the internet and adding a new dimension to tgirl erotica. The Tgirl Punk! I use the word very loosely but for me it’s describing the alternate type girls, like Morgan, Mandy, Aly and more - who don’t fit the stereotype of what we’ve came expect in transsexual porn.
