I don't necessarily collect them, but I do appreciate them. My own is a 1918 Hampden railway watch (Similar to the one pictured below) that I got from a retired Hampden employee that rescues them from estates and gives them new homes. It's accurate, sturdy, and quite the piece of craftsmanship.

I'm searching for a Waltham Motorman's Watch on a whim. :)

I've never wore a watch, they bother me when they are on my wrist.

Are you that naive to ask this question?

Mine cost just a smidge over $300 and I consider it quite a bargain. It is in great condition for its age and has very minor wear. The fellow that I got it from saved it from an estate or flea market and gave it a thorough overhaul/cleaning. It has some little bits of character, such as a small nick on the back casing and an age crease on the face (Very minor), but such things give it a history.

When it fisrt arrived, I didn't know how to set it and took it to a jeweler friend that takes care of my antique pins for me. He showed me how this particular watch has to be opened and set with a tiny release lever under the bezel on the front and he then removed the rear cover (Revealing a remarkable styling in the works themselves) and showed me how the interior of the cover was scratched with numbers, each being the license number of the respective artisans who'd worked on the watch in its lifetime.

Being decidedly younger, and a student to boot, I can't exactly brag about my 3 Rolex's.
But I think my watch is pretty sweet, it certainly attracts a lot of attention.
It's a Nixon (that's like a skate/surf brand), the model is called "The Dork" (you can tell why by looking at it).
And it's actually a talking watch, which I didn't know when I first saw it. I honestly just bought it because it looks so good, lol.

Gold Rolex Daytona (had the leather band switched to metal)
Stainless Rolex Submariner

Sure, they're expensive watches...but they're investments as well.
