WHERE DID YOU HEAR THAT BRAZIL IS A WARZONE ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
If you go to the remote area of the jungle of Brazil...MAYBE you'll become somebody's dinner or something like that.... otherwise, you'll be perfectly safe as long as you dont look for trouble.....most of the major cities in Brazil ( Rio, Bahia, Sao Paulo, etc ) are not more dangerous than any of the majoy cities here .....

My overall impression is that brazilian people is among the most friendly people in the world  .... plus their soccer team is waaaaaaaaaay hard to beat :x

Ive just got that impression from a few magazine articles and a couple documentaries. I should have been a little more clear, I heard some of the cities were warzones. Like literally. Isnt the worlds murder capital somewhere in Brazil? Just a question, no sarcasm. Ive heard that the tourist part is nice, but when you actually go in the city and "stray off the path" and explore it gets crazy

there is a film about the slums in rio
called "city of god"

violent youth gangs fighting over drug turf
and the ilk

they make john wayne look like a queer eyed pacifist

Brazil is not a war zone, however Rio IS, unfortunately, one of the most dangerous cities to be a tourist in outside of actual warzones & unstable or hostile societies. I believe the other tourist areas like Sao Paulo or Salvador, Bahia aren't bad, but I'm not certain of that. Rio has degenerated to brazen daylight muggings & robberies, druggings of tourists in bars, etc.,....in addition to the daily drug fuelled gang violence. Bad news
However they recently elected a leftist drunk as the President so I'm SURE things are really going to be improving REAL soon  .

I'm not sure what to think of Mariana. She doesn't so much have a girl cock as she does a fricken tentacle. I'd be afraid she'd whip me around the room with it like some japanese anime monster.

Then again, could be a good time. The mood music would have to be the theme from the old Godzilla movies.

Where did you read that? Have you actually visited Rio? It's idiots like you with your narrow view based on a few sensationalist US journalists that make Americans so afraid of travelling and consequently, so small minded about people of other countries.
I've been to Rio numerous times and it does have it's dangers. You need to be careful about how much money you carry, how you dress, how much wealth you display in public and stick to the safe areas - exactly the same advice as I'd give to people travelling to parts of Los Angeles, NYC, London, Marsielle, Barcelona, Tijuana, Mexico city, Ho Chi Minh City, Paris, Rome and on....

However they recently elected a leftist drunk as the President so I'm SURE things are really going to be improving REAL soon  .

However....the USA recently RE-ELECTED a right-wing drunk and ex-drug user as a President and I'm sure things will not approve one iota

Dumbass.
For those interested in visiting the Brazil and the girls of Brazil extend your readings on the internet to more than just this board and idiots who are too afraid to leave their own boardrooms.

Well seanchai I've only been to about 30 countries so far so I guess my world view isn't as quite as expansive as yours, or at least as expansive as your ego since you decided to turn this into a personal attack rather than a informed post.
Alright then let me quote someone I know you hold in the highest esteem: "I've been to Rio numerous times and it does have it's dangers. You need to be careful about how much money you carry, how you dress, how much wealth you display in public and stick to the safe areas "
Anyone who would then compare the personal safety danger for a tourist in Rio to ANY of the cities you listed after that is just not dealing in reality.
That's not my opinion thats the truth. Don't take my word for it, anyone can GOOGLE the facts if they want.

Safety: Brazil is politically stable with no natural enemies and no terrorist activities. In metropolitan areas, however, petty crime is a fact of life. Rio in particular is regarded as one of the most crime-ridden cities in the world and, although violent crime is generally limited to the slum areas, foreign businessmen and tourists are advised to take precautions. However violent crime is on the increase due to the establishment of drug and criminal gangs around Rio and Sao Paulo. http://news24.wordtravels.com/Travelguide/Countries/Brazil/Basics

I've also been to Buenos Aires & Santiago in that region & there is no comparison: Rio is the most beautiful, exciting & risky. Hey, I live in NYC & visit New Orleans as a tourist at least annually & lived for several years in D.C. There's no question both of those are more dangerous than NYC, not enough to not visit with that knowledge. But then I'm just an "idiot with a narrow view". I'm not sure why you needed to start name calling over a discussion of crime statistics.
This is boring & stupid.

El Hefe,

I don't know if I would have been so quick to respond to your post as Seanchai did, but I certainly -- CERTAINLY -- would have been tempted. The problem here I believe was your polarizing quip about a leftist drunk running their country. In other words, you tipped your hand about your political listing (maybe inadvertently[?] and something one should always be wary of) while lumping the comment about the recently elected leftist drunk with the country's social and economic ills.

One is asking to be a bullseye, regardless of the forum, the second they mention or reveal their political, religious, or moral, et all, leanings for everyone to see.

"One is asking to be a bullseye, regardless of the forum, the second they mention or reveal their political, religious, or moral, et all, leanings for everyone to see."

That being said, I'd like to place myself in the camp of the Leftist Drunk, Agnostic Hedonists, who possess questionable morality (whatever that might mean).

And I'm very comfortable with anyone who has ideas opposing mine (as long as they dont want to hunt me down and, like, try to kill me or something, in which case I maintain the right to return fire)

Salut!

Ego has nothing to do with it, I didn't boast about how many countries I've visited, I wanted to inform people that your fearmongering is in-correct. Personal attack? In my view your comments were idiotic.

My point being all the places I mentioned, I've known people to have had issues in, the same as in Brazil. I advise people to be careful just as I would for those other cities but calling it a warzone is just irresponsible and small minded.
As for the google posting, I can find information to support almost any harebrained idea. Facts are not necessarily gained by one search on one site on Google. In fact, a search on "george bush drug addiction" brought me up this interesting site. http://www.sonofbush.com/cocaine.htm

But then I'm just an "idiot with a narrow view".

Ok maybe narrow with an idiotic view was closer to it?

I'm not sure why you needed to start name calling over a discussion of crime statistics.

Name calling, moi? "leftist drunk as the President" -

In all fairness, I was the person to refer to Brazil as a warzone. That was my impression, and if it is wrong, I am more than happy to find out more! I am afraid to go somewhere that I cant understand the language and I think its realistic to believe that usually when you go to any types of clubs, GG or TS, that you want to exhibit some caution. If I have been misinformed, no problem! I just know how shaky it can be in Latin America

I travel to much of Latin America on business, mostly Central America. Argentina is as safe as the States,IMO. (Cheap plastic surgery there for all you transitioning girls.)

I've got the same problem as an above poster w/ Brazil,my Portuguese is very limited. (Hell, my Spanish isn't great but I can get around.) You've just got to watch what's going on around you and where you go.

Remember if you're a gringo/gringa,the local thieves are looking at you as a walking ATM.

BTW,I like to stay in moderately priced hotels frequented by locals. Thieves tend to case the expensive ones for marks.

Let me give you the argentine point of view.

Argentina has criminals and delinquents just as America does, OK?
Unfortunately, Americans are not welcome as gods. See, CIA, World Bank and a large number of companies have constantly tried to rule not only its economy but also all kinds of development attempt, including social, political, industrial and educational.
Of course the average American citizen has nothing to do with that except for the fact that you vote your leaders, and live a wealthy life while some parts of the world where your leaders put more than their hands must face extreme poverty.
Now, advise for t lovers who would decide adventuring the marvelous "meat" the country has to offer:
As someone said before, don’t act like the average "gringo" carrying your label "I’m American, I’m full of dollars", be discreet, specially on your looks, hidden cameras and technology devices, not too flashy clothes, mind your own business and stay in regular neighborhoods (check your travel guides).
Follow this simple rules and you'll see argentines are way too friendly and generous, and your dollars are 3 times worth what you can afford in America.

For those who would need to make up your minds...

http://www.distintas.com.ar/

http://escorts.gemidos.com.ar/escorts_traviesas.htm

http://www.sexo3.com/General.htm

Enjoy and respect Argentina, and please, for those who know nothing about who the rest of the world looks like, if you’re going to participate in some sort of discussion, be sure to get more respectful and pertinent knowledge sources. That’s to avoid feeding stupid myths about South American crime/poverty/fiesta.
