Sounds like you're one of those people that are won over by personality, more so than looks. Some folks go the other way, obviously. Too many people focus on what they look like, and getting by on that for so long, find themselves unable to cope when their looks fade and people are no longer willing to tolerate their shitty personalities.

Women don't seek perfection anymore than men do. All those guys going to the gym regularly aren't there because they want to be the next Mr. Olympia. However, most guys, as you know, are schlubs... Look at the average guy in his thirties and you see a beer belly completing the "I don't give a shit anymore" ensemble. And while his wife may or may not be just as much a wreck, how many times do you see such a schlub with a decent looking woman?

Women are more accepting of men letting themselves go than the other way around, and so more women go for the plastic surgery, tummy tucks and whatnot, and in very few cases of their own desire, IMHO. A woman getting a tummy tuck because she thinks it'll make her look better... to whom? A man, or men in general, IMO. Just like getting a boob job... Oh, getting bigger boobs is gonna increase your self esteem, huh? Yeah right! Again, it's men. Period. IMHO.
