Really girl, we're going to miss you. I can almost understand why you're leaving- all the flaming and inanity one often sees on these boards sometimes makes me think I need to take an extended break. But much as I try to, I can't because it's all so damn interesting, even the drama and the pyrotechnics.

I've always thought you were one of the most genuine girls here, as well as very beautiful and funny to boot. Your caustic humour has often had me in stitches. Your putdowns have been legendary and many of the things you said have made me think. Maybe I didn't always agree, but I've always respected the way you call things like you see them.

I've always looked forward to reading your posts, not just becuase I could glance once more at one of your beautiful avatars. I'm sorry that you're going and hope you come back soon.

And I'd love to stay in touch, via Myspace or some other way. I remember you actually didn't add me to your Myspace the one time I did send you a message and an add request, and still am not sure why- I think you may have assumed I was just another jerk. In my short time here, I've learned alot, irritated some people, and made friends of several others. I believe you would be one of those people I irritated, but as someone else has said, I've always respected your opinion, and even went so far as to tell you as much. Given that I'm relatively new here, I can't possibly know how HA was when you joined, but I do see where your annoyance comes from. That richierich26 was not banned within an hour of his first post is something I'll never personally understand, but then, who knows how the powers that be here decide what is and isn't acceptable.
I bicker with Kriss regularly, but I don't take him too seriously and I'm sure he feels the same about me. I think that everyone should bring that attitude to this board. Comments made by others aren't that serious that they should cause you to abandon HA, as long as there are still those things here that you enjoy. If there is however, nothing that you enjoy anymore, well then that's another issue. I hope the problems you've described will be dealt with sooner rather than later, and that you'll once again enjoy the time you spend here. Even with us agreeing to disagree regularly, I will certainly miss you, and anxiously look forward to what I believe will be a speedy return.

Well, I don't have much to say with how new I am to here, but I do have to say it'd be disappointing to see someone how has actually helped me figure out a lot about my future plans to leave.

I think Jen is a big help to this community, and I remember some forums I used to browse back in highschool where if forum regulars were harassed the harasser would have a higher chance of getting removed from the site.

Not that it should even be a rule, but it should be respectful to keep unrespectful out for the safety of people, verbal harassment, or anything said verbally can go along way, and to say "don't listen to stuff and let it get the best of you." It's hard for some people to do that, in just a psychological sense. While it might not apply to Jen, it might apply to other people, some heavier than others.

In defense of the mods, It is very difficult to police a forum site. I do some web design and was involved briefly with a site that was considering putting forums up. I am not a programmer, and there are surely people here who understand web programming languages better than me, so I’m not going to go into detail. Also, getting into the nuts and bolts, might just give the people who abuse the boards more ammo to use, so I’ll also refrain for that reason.

The only way to fairly regulate a board is to take financial information. If the site were set up in such a way that you had to give a cc# and other personal information (even if they didn’t charge), it would be very hard to make duplicate profiles.

There would also be other ways of dealing with people who are abusive without kicking them off that would be very funny ( I worked on some of these ideas with a programmer). As it is, though, there are very good reasons why it would be a full time job to try and regulate an open forum like this. Like all public forums, these things are going to happen whether they should or not.
