Mine is when Shug is walking to the church in The Color Purple

"Speak To Me Lord"

And I have a few others lol when I used to perform I'd always do gospel songs on stage. His Eye On The Sparrow by J. Simpson is pretty good too.

I know there's gotta be some Holy Rollers on this board lol MUSIC was a huge part of our church.

Actually, I like gospel music. But then again, I like all kinds of music.

"Peace in the Valley" and "Down by the riverside" are my favourites

I like the one they have on endless loop at the Little House on the Prairie church. Still, it wouldn't kill 'em to know two songs. Or even three.

That would be 'Michael, Row the Boat Ashore'...

But sometimes that presents a problem for me...as I keep losing my whores...er, oars...

I love Gospel music. I always start my day with
at least one Gospel song, it get's me grounded and
focused for the challenges of the rest of the day.

I'm a big fan of contemporary Gospel; Kirk Franklin,
J. Moss, Mary Mary, John P. Kee, Hezikiah Walker,
Yolanda Adams, Donnie McClurkin, et al.

Though I am equally versed in trafional Gospel and love
the works of Mahalia Jackson, Willie Neal Johnson,
The Blind Boys Of Alabama / Mississippi, Shirley Caesar,
Rev. James Cleveland, The Mighty clouds Of Joy, just to
name a few.

Currently I have a mix of J. Moss tunes http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l2/magi43/51VQHKRYKBL.jpg
with 'Wanna Be' my favorite, and Kirk Franklins ' Hero' http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l2/magi43/kurt-hero.jpg
in heavy rotation on my smart phone.

That's in addition to all the other genres of music that I listen to.

But gospel helps me in my battles with 'slewfoot'.

I would have to say "Open My Heart" by Yolanda Adams. Also "We Fall Down" by Donnie McClurkin. I have also play keys on these songs behind vocalists. But the words to "Open My Heart" just seem to get to me.

Speaking of "The Color Purple" music, I like the message of the song "Maybe God is Trying to Tell You Somthing". I'm not that crazy about the music, but the message is great.

I like "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," and "Amazing Grace" from the CD "Celtic Hymns." I also like Elvis Prestley's early gospel songs.

Does Eric Clapton's "Tears in Heaven" count as gospel?

Also like Live's "Lightning Crashes" for its spirituality, but that is hardly gospel...gospel doesn't use the word placenta. :?

OMG, Kelly. I swear, you just don't know what the hell to post about next. And it's not even like I don't have any taste for gospel music - it sure isn't my favorite tho' - but this is just one desperate thread. You need a bf, I swear.

And you know what? Half the guys on here are nodding in agreement. The other half are forming an orderly queue and yelling "Pick me!".
