anyone be anything but nice to you?

As for the photo size, sometimes bigger is better :P and I certainly enjoy seeing all the detail that a 6 or 8 megapixel photo reveals, but
"zooming out" as it were to see the whole image is great, too. Here's the image as I resized it in Photoshop. If you have Photoshop, go
to Image Size, then change Height to the screen height you want (say, 768 pixels for optimal display on 1024x768 resolution), with
Constrain Proportions checked (otherwise, you'll only change the height, not the width and height together). Then go to Filter >
Sharpen > Unsharp Mask. This setting can be a bit challenging, but I've found that a good general setting for portraits is Amount: 40%,
Radius: 1.6 pixels, and Threshold: 3 levels. Then go to Save for Web, which will give you the greatest control over the quality of the
jpg output, which affects the filesize and image quality tremendously. For instance, at 100%, your image would be saved at 262 kb, but
at 80% (with virtually no perceptible difference in quality for on-screen viewing) less than half that at 118 kb. 60% will yield excellent results,
but with a little image quality loss, at only 68 kb. Anything below that yields minimal filesize advantage (filesize = download speed),
but will quickly deteriorate the image quality. You can adjust it within 1% increments. When I want a high res image, I usually shoot for
about 80%, but for less critical quality I'll save at 60%. This image is saved at 80%. Of course, you don't get the detail that
the large image allows, but you do get to see the whole image at once.

Too bad I missed the large picture, before it got shrunk down. I like those really high rez pics. I do most of my resizing of my pictures with a program called irfanview, its simple and does a good job at it.

Hey bigguy, I didn't realize Gia had replaced her big pic with the smaller one! I am touched that she really appreciated my input, though. It's always nice to make a connection with as great a girl as Gia on a level other than the obvious, if you know what I mean.

I like both formats: the large pics for close viewing (face filling the screen, not to mention other body parts 8) ), but the smaller, still-full-screen view for seeing her all-at-once. Of course, one problem with the 2048 x 3072 image is that it forces the table too wide in the forum, making it very hard to read the posts. And if you're on dialup, you'll be waiting a while (but then again, with Gia it's definitely worth the wait). I'll have to check out irfanview; I'm not familiar with that program. Photoshop is the killer app all around, but you seem to always have good results with reducing the image size of the photos you post--and there are more than a few of those I wouldn't mind seeing high res, especially some of Tara's from the last party.
