The silver-bullet for all the woes of the transit industry in the 1970s that was compared, unfavorably, to the more reliable Red Arrow Norristown line of Philadelphia by 60 Minutes. At the time, Red Arrow (The line was first envisioned by George Gould as an express line running from Downtown Philly to the Chicago loop) was still running cars from the 30s and 40s while BART was learning valuable and expensive lessons about what inexperienced manufacturers could do when they couldn't tell their ass from a railroad spike (Rohr went out of the transit business after the subsequent embarrassment in DC).

I can tell you that ive never seen a TS that i knew was a TS on the Norristown line to philly...BUT ...Ive only ever gotten off at the 30th Station.
