I needed a second sound system for my second computer which has all my media. I have a baby grand six feet away and want to play along to music, so I needed power. After looking around, I went with Logitech's Z2300 2.1 system. I paid just over a hundred bucks for a 140 watt sub and 80 watt satellites. It arrived today, and I've been trying out different kinds of music on it. It sounds amazing - shakes the house at 2/3 power. Could use a tad more midrange, but iTunes has an equalizer, and the lows and highs are fantastic. Best $100 I've spent all year. (Newegg had the lowest price.)

I don't know if this is an option for you, but I have a few of my
computers wired into my sound system via mixers.

Thus I am able to have very good sound quality as I have speakers,
and sub woofers etc, throughout the house.

I purchased the Klipsch PROMEDIA 2.1 speakers with the subwoofer last year. Based off of on-line reviews. I ordered from the same company, and my speakers didn't cost too much. I'm content with the sound quality.

Those were the other set I was considering, Kabuki.
And yeah, Hollywood - you can do it you know! My brother still uses an amp receiver he's had for 20 years. The thing's a tank. Altec 7's too. Just get a stereo mini-to-RCA cord long enough and you're in business.
My ex got the stereo in 94.
I miss that stereo... 8)

No, where the headphones go. Stereo mini plug - just look at the tip on the headphones, get a cord that matches that end, and the other end matches the HK's inputs. Probably RCA's

Yeah, these had way more watts than the others, and that's what you want to sound good. Plus user reviews were positive.

Wondering if anyone ever heard the M-Audio boxes, just the opposite of yours in that they concentrate on the middle range, no sub. Almost bought them for my new Mac, waiting a bit longer.

if you look at the picture, you'll see the other component which I've really come to appreciate - a remote with power switch, volume and bass volume. Everything on the web is at different volumes, so being able to grab a knob really helps (especially when looking at porn lol - plus you can plug your headphones into the remote and it kills the speakers.
