...Wu Tang Clan-C.R.E.A.M.

CLASSIC....one of the greatest rap songs ever made. Raekwon and Inspectah Deck tear it up, and Method Man nails the hook, maybe the best rap hook ever.

Absolutely Not - Deborah Cox the non-remixed version -- it's on my myspace.

It's kind of a gay anthem, however it's more my anthem right now. It's about someone that is saying that she isn't going to be backed into a corner anymore and be treated like crap. She isn't going to date men that don't love her for who and what she is. She isn't going to go out of her way to change herself to appease them. And so on and so forth lol

Gas Panic, by Oasis

The song is about a man (literally Noel Gallagher) facing his own demons in the form of panic attacks. When I hear it, it makes me think of this guy I grew up with, named Brian, who started having panic attacks soon after college (his first attack caused him to actually collapse during a business meeting). This guy was the best friend I ever had. We came from nearly identical backgrounds and had personalities that were so similar it was eerie. Long story short, he was unable to deal with his attacks and essentially went off of the deep end, going from being one of the strongest people I have ever known to being a complete mess. That was roughly eleven years ago. About eight years ago, he hopped into a car and disappeared. No one has seen him since – though friends of mine were able to trace him to house he never leaves in Tennessee a few years ago. I really miss the guy.

Anyway, here are the lyrics, which are pretty interesting:

What tongueless ghost of sin crept through my curtains?
Sailing on a sea of sweat on a stormy night
I think he don't got a name but I can't be certain
And in me he starts to confide

That my family don't seem so familiar
And my enemies all know my name
And if you hear me tap on your window
Better get on yer knees and pray panic is on the way

My pulse pumps out a beat to the ghost dancer
My eyes are dead and my throat's like a black hole
And if there's a god would he give another chancer
An hour to sing for his soul

Cos my family don't seem so familiar
And my enemies all know my name
And when you hear me tap on yer window
Yer better get on yer knees and pray panic is on the way

Cos my family don't seem so familiar
And my enemies all know my name
And when you hear me tap on yer window
Then you get on your knees and you better pray
Cos my family don't seem so familiar
And my enemies all know my name
And when you hear me tap on your window
Yer better get on yer knees and pray
Panic is on the way
Panic is on the way

Last song I listened to was Evanescence's "Field Of Innocence" from their first cd Origin. No need to explain the song, the lyrics are self-explanatory.

I still remember the world
From the eyes of a child
Slowly those feelings
Were clouded by what I know now

Where has my heart gone
An uneven trade for the real world
Oh I... I want to go back to
Believing in everything and knowing nothing at all

I still remember the sun
Always warm on my back
Somehow it seems colder now

Where has my heart gone
Trapped in the eyes of a stranger
Oh I... I want to go back to
Believing in everything

[Latin hymn:]
Iesu, Rex admirabilis
Et triumphator nobilis,
Dulcedo ineffabilis,
Totus desiderabilis.

Where has my heart gone
An uneven trade for the real world
Oh I... I want to go back to
Believing in everything
Oh, Where

Where has my heart gone
Trapped in the eyes of a stranger
Oh I... I want to go back to
Believing in everything

I still remember.

The real magic of this song is actually hearing it. It really captures you. There's no teen/adult alive who can't relate to it.

Mary J. Blige

"Good Woman Down"

[Intro:]
In my life
I've seen
It all
Now it's time
For me
To pass
On this
Knowledge to you
All my sisters
My troubled sisters
This is my
Gift to you

[1st Verse:]
Been many days
Couldn't take
The pain
Felt like
I should take
My life away
See it everyday
In every other
Young sister's face
(Young sister's face)
See'em cryin' out
Life full of doubt
Runnin' in the streets
No self esteem
Thinkin' that
Used to be me
What a shame

[B-Sect:]
And life
Is a mutha
It's hard
To sit back
And see
The same thing
That happened to me
Happen to you
This ain't love
But here's
The love
I wanna give to you

[Chorus:]
It dosen't
Matter what
They say or do
Don't let'em
Get to you
Don't be afraid
You can, you can
You can breakthrough
Take what
I've been through
To see that
You can't
Hold a good
Woman down

Went through
The same point
Of givin' up
I-I felt
Like I had enough
Went to the edge
Of the ledge
But I didn't jump
"My Life"
Will sum it up
You can't
Hold a good
Woman down

[2nd Verse:]
When I used to see
My daddy beat
My mother down
Down to her feet
I used to say
That ain't gon'
Never be me
(Never be me)
Now look at you
Bruised up
From him
Girl recognize
You're better then
Him tellin' you
That he'll never hit
You again
Girl don't cry

[Repeat B-Sect 1x]

[Repeat Chorus 1x]

[Bridge:]
Through your changes
I will hold your hand
Use my songs
As remedies
Whenever you're feelin'
Down or blue
I'll be there for you
Trust
And know
That I've been
Where you're at
Seen the things
That you can see
Lookin' at you
Resembles me
But you gotta
Hold your own

[Repeat Chorus 1x]

[Vamp:]
Can't hold me
Down
Can't hold me
Down
Can't hold me
Down
Can't hold me
Down
Can't hold me
Down
Can't hold me
Down
You can't hold me

Can't hold me
Down
Can't hold me
Down
Can't hold me
Down
Can't hold me
Down
Can't hold me
Down
Can't hold me
Down
You can't hold me

[Outro:]
There you have it
I'm still with you
My sisters
My troubled sisters
I still have troubles, too
You're not alone
I'll always be there
For you
Rock on

You can't hold
A good woman down

LOL...the Wu is the tops. There comin with some new shit in the summer.

Ever heard Only Built 4 Cuban Linx??? Thats probly their best(raekwon and ghostface)

Cuban linx 2 is comin out soon too.

Great Album by Raekwon, Rainy Dayz is a great song! I remember seeing Wu-Tang at the "FEVER" on Tremont ave in '92. Place was packed!! This was at the height of their fame, waited in the cold to get in for 4 hours and the guy behind me online almost started fighting with Old Dirty Bastard when they started coming in...classic stuff.

I listen mostly to Punk now good old classic stuff not this MTV crap, music is emotional for me. Mostly to get my blood flowing. Not so much lyrics and content but just so I can "Fuck shit up" at the gym or to stay pumped up.
Misfits, Ramones, Black Flag...etc. All the good stuff.

Herbie Hancock--"Rain Dance"

This was a tune from Hancock's peak era as a bandleader, about 1971-75. After he left Miles Davis' quintet of 1964-68, Hancock first formed the group Mwandishi, then in 1973 he instituted the band Headhunters, which recorded the highly-acclaimed 1973 album of the same name and several others, eventually without Hancock.

This abstract-but-rhythmic composition features Hancock's facility on electric piano and analog synthesizers, which were just coming into vogue at the time. Dr. Patrick Gleason adds more synth textures of his own to this percolating tune.

Hancock was only one of a number of musicians who were highly influenced by Davis' move into electric music in the late '60s. Although Hancock had left Davis' group in 1968, he did come back to play on the highly-influential Davis albums In A Silent Way, Bitches Brew, and A Tribute To Jack Johnson. Both with and without Davis, Hancock helped write some of the early (and best IMHO) chapters in the history of jazz fusion.

Platypus (I Hate You) by Green Day. It's off the last decent album they put out, Nimrod (American Idiot was good, but they totally sold out). I'm generally kind of wound up, canktankerous, and pissed at somebody, so this song suits me perfectly on the drive home. Mind you I'm not always like that - I have some moods where I'll blast 'Breakfast at Tiffanys' and sing along gleefully. What can I say? To quote another song, manic depression is a frustratin' mess. Anyway...:

Platypus (I Hate You)

Your rise and fall
Back up against the wall
What goes around is coming back and haunting you
It's time to quit
Cause you ain't worth the shit
Under my shoes or the piss on the ground

No one loves you and you know it
Don't pretend that you enjoy it or you don't care
Cause now I wouldn't lie or tell you all the things you want
to hear.
Cause I hate you
Cause I hate you
Cause I hate you
Cause I hate you

I heard your sick
Sucked on that cancer stick
A throbbing tumor and a radiation high
Shit out of luck
And now your time is up
It brings me pleasure just to know you're going to die

Dickhead, Fuckface, cock smoking, mother fucking, asshole,
dirty twat, waste of semen, I hope you die HEY

Red eye, code blue
I'd like to strangle you
And watch your eyes bulge right out of your skull
When you go down
Head first into the ground
I'll stand above you just to piss on your grave

got my Ipod on shuffle in my "classic rock" category and Neil Young's "Harvest Moon" is playing

Come a little bit closer
Hear what I have to say
Just like children sleepin
We could dream this night away.

But theres a full moon risin
Lets go dancin in the light
We know where the musics playin
Lets go out and feel the night.

Because Im still in love with you
I want to see you dance again
Because Im still in love with you
On this harvest moon.

When we were strangers
I watched you from afar
When we were lovers
I loved you with all my heart.

But now its gettin late
And the moon is climbin high
I want to celebrate
See it shinin in your eye.

Because Im still in love with you
I want to see you dance again
Because Im still in love with you
On this harvest moon.

And no dont go looking for any hidden agendas or messages there...none.Just a cool chill tune by an underrated song writer

David Axelrod--"The Divine Image"--the starkness of the single organ chord that runs throughout the entire tune, dramatic abstraction in terms of structure.

Currently listening to the Grateful Dead charging their way through "The Eleven" (so named for its 11/4 time signature) from 2/23/68. This particular version includes one of Jerry Garcia's speediest, fiercest non-stop solos ever.
