The most common preconcived notion is about how a transsexual will look. The general public expects Homer Simpson in a dress.

Another common misconception about M2F transsexuals is that they are all sex-craving hotties who escort and do porn.

Fortunately, some are.

So true Brenda -- so many think we look like what Jerry Springer hires as actors to play ts girls -- if he doesn't get those girls off the street and put wigs on them then I don't know -- cause well nevermind we will just say these guys that "say" they don't know must be drunk 24/7

Ecstatic so true!!

I think another preconceived notion is that all transexuals are "gay" into men.

I think the most preconceived notion that men have when they finally get up the courage to spend time with a tansexual is that they are totally fem. Men tend to forget that Transexuals are genetically male. Most have have masculine hands and feet and muscular fetaure which are threatening to men without the confidence to see behind it. I remember feeling that the first time I had a sexual encounter. The same may be said for most voices. Yes, I know that hormones and soem surgery can regulate some voices and body parts, but for the most part limbs and hands and feet cannot change. Be prepared, it can be a turn off for many.

Rawny I don't have big hands or feet and I know plenty of other girls that don't either.

I wear a size 7 in womans..and my hands are smaller than most of my gg girlfriends hands

You could be right, but, I think it's the opposite, the male half of the general public would be a lot more comfortable with the "Homer Simpson in a dress" image.
No threat to their precious sexuality, they wouldn't have to worry about being tricked by a tranny.

Most start off by a basic ignorance of a TS versus a CD or a TV. They lump any genetic male wearing female clothing as one and the same, when there are immense differences. So from the start their preconceived notion of TG is woefully misconstrued and subject to irrational beliefs.

I think the biggest preconcieved notion we hav about transseuxals is simply we do not know how to deal with them. Do we treat them as men in drag? Or simply as women? I think of them as special and unique and God's gift to the world

Actually I disagree. (Respectfully). I think we all fantasize and expect girls to look like you, Kelly, Alannah, Simone, and other "lookers". but fail to understand that there are tons more that are not really all that good looking, passable, or "hot". I want to a TS club twice and both times there was 10% hotties and the rest................not.

i think the biggest is they work in the sex industry, legit or not, and always know where to get coke.

a few weeks ago andy dick and luke wilson came to the drag club i go to on sundays and andy said "we came here looking to party" and when he said party he started playing w/ his nose... i said "oh you mean like coke" he said "yes mam i came here b/c all you queens do it" and i said "actually i dont i only drink sprite" and walked off....

past sunday alan cumming was in town and asked my friend rachel if she knew where to get some ... but that story ended differently ::shrug::

Thats funny how so many celebrities are TS admirers. I've talked to so many girls and they drop names like the Oscars..lol. But I would never share....I can't wait for the day a big named Hollywood Star openly dates a TS woman.

Everybody who knows I'm TS loves my tiny hands and size 8 feet. As with Kelly, my hands are smaller than a lot of non-transsexual girls I know. They are quite dainty :)

I am glad to hear that you and Kelly have small hands and feet. That is a real turn on. However, most TG do not. That is not a critisim, just an opbservation. I have heard from dome friends who have been with a TG for the first time that thye are taken back by it. Once a man has a size 12 shoe, transitioning does not do anything to cvhange that.

PS, Lenora, you are a natural beauty

Yeah, but Rod is so out there people sort of accepted it because he was "weird" anyway and nobody talked about it (much) at the time.

OK... so I've heard "homer simpson in a dress" and I've heard variations of "the super hotties from porn". And lots of the other things people have said seem to be things people know about from experiences and were surprised about relative to "what they expected".

I'd say the biggest pre-concieved notion people have of transwomen is that they don't know any of them, and generally that if someone they know was trans, then they would be able to tell and in some sense that they should be able to tell - like people think it matters. (And transmen are even more invisible this way.)

Stealth, and the ability to be stealth, isn't *super* common, but I think it's way more common than even people in this forum think. Like of the women in the communities I'm familiar with, more of them are in graphic designers (or DJs, or grad students, or lawyers... each group is separately more common) than in the escort business.

Obviously my experiences are biased too, but I'm just saying there's always going to be "the people who aren't part of my subculture but technically could be" if you're trying to think comprehensively.

The fundamental reality of our existence is that perception (or notion) = reality.... All of us out there (and I'm one of them) who kid ourselves that one day we're going to conjure a world where people really see "absolute" reality for what it is, are kidding ourselves.

It's the classic ego. The way we see it is real--and if others see it differently then they might have "preconceived" notions.

But the fact of the matter is, all "notions" are pre-conceived...that is the nature of our subjective existences. Perception=reality.....and the best we can do is argue incessantly that it isn't so...but the thing is.... what are we arguing for? If we have to ARGUE to somebody to see things the way we do, then why are we interested in them in the first place??? They'll never be as we are..or as we dream they could be.

Funny, I have smallish hands and feet, but women rarely compliment me on their 'elegance.' (Which I think is preferable to 'daintiness' in my case.)
