Check out this story about my friend Amanda Lepore, Kenny Kenny (who does the door at my parties) and some other girls
regarding how they were thrown out of the ladies bathroom @ the Hammerstein Ballroom
(I happened to have been there that night for a few minutes- thank God I did not have to use the bath room)

WHAT a drag!

Transsexual party princess Amanda Lepore and her posse of gender-bending buddies were inexplicably banned from the bathrooms at a reunion of Palladium regulars at Hammerstein Ballroom Saturday night.

Drag queen Scooby tells PAGE SIX that he and flamboyant friends Cody Ravioli, Kenny Kenny, Sophia LaMar, Astro and Lepore (the David LaChapelle muse who is a fully-functional woman) were in the ladies' room touching up their makeup when a male security guard ordered them out.

"He was really mean," Scooby sniffs. "All the Guido girls in the bathroom were defending us. They were like, 'That's [bleeped] up!' I've never been kicked out of a woman's bathroom before. I looked better than most of the girls there."

The cross-dressing chaos continued when some of the outlandishly attired group — who were paid to come to the party by promoters — tried to use the men's room and were told to leave by an attendant.

"We walked back to the women's room and the security guard said, 'Don't even think about going in,' " Scooby relates. "They weren't just harassing drag queens — some of us have had sex changes and are technically women."

Then, Scooby says, when he and his glamorous gaggle went onstage after singer Crystal Waters performed, they were promptly booted off by security. "We thought someone else was playing after her, but they just wanted us off stage," he says.

A rep for Hammerstein Ballroom did not return calls. Event co-host Kelly Cutrone opined, "You would think that either bathroom would be fine in this day and age." Cutrone said she assigned a security guard to escort door diva Kenny Kenny to the ladies' room, even though he is not technically a drag queen but was wearing a corset and makeup that night.

Cutrone added that the heavily hyped party drew as many outer-borough weekend warriors as platform sneaker-clad club kids, which perhaps contributed to the confusion. "It was kind of like 'Party Monster' versus 'Saturday Night Fever,' " she said.

It isn't the first scandal surrounding the bash. PAGE SIX reported last week that promoters disinvited Rosario Dawson from hosting it because they felt the sexy "Alexander" actress was too young to represent the Palladium's late 1980s-early '90s era.

That just isn't right, banning people from the bathrooms because some stupid security guard is confused about their gender.
Whats going to be next, "Mens", "Womens" & "Others" bathrooms?

just an aside:

"... All the Guido girls in the bathroom were defending us. ..."

Guido is a derogatory slur re Italians.

Would they feel so comfortable saying "all the niggers in the bathroom were defending us"? or "all the spics in the bathroom were defending us".

No. But the girls felt comfortable using the slur "guidos", and the Post felt comfortable printing it.

i dont think the using the word guido has any close of a derogatory connotation as you are putting it darling.

Guido for your information is an male Italian first name.
There are Italian men named Guido-
Pronounced Gee-Do

the word guido is used by many italian americans themselves to describe a certain group of people...

there have been movies
"kiss me guido"- that is alot different that "kiss me nigger"

and there are many sites where the word guido is used
in a non negative manner

www.NJGuido.com
is an example- a night life new jersey website

as to excusing it because its a proper name, how about calling blacks "Leroys", and Puerto Ricans "Pedros" generically as a group. Would that be OK too?

and as to Italians using it to describe themselves or other Italians, its the same way blacks use "nigger" with, to and about each other. There's even plenty of rap songs with "nigga" or "niggar" in the title or lyrics. They get to use it, you don't.

Bottom line, others don't get to decide what another ethnic group considers a slur. I can assure you, that most Italians consider it a stereotyping pejorative slur. myself included.

phungu2: The New York Post has printed the term "nigga" many times. If you're truly offended perhaps you should e-mail them at letters@nypost.com

I don't think they ever referred to blacks as "niggers", and if they quoted someone saying that, it would likely be in the context of condemning it, or to demonstrate the person quoted was a racist.

boohoo, stop whining, its the context of words and not the words themselves that make them harmful or hateful..go listen to some george carlin and realize the real problems in this world...the only people who have a problem with the term are probably the same nutjobs who have a problem with the columbus day parade..a bunch of whining idiots who have so much extra time on their hands they pick a ridiculous topic to complain about...

and how fuckin dare u compare the term to nigger, etc. do italians have problems getting jobs and getting into clubs because of their race? maybe in the 1920's but i dont think u can find an italian american today that would think ur being denegrating if u said guido..in fact, like gumbah, most think its cute and sort of complimentary....

MEGA mr ITALIAN:) am i right here my guido?:)

1) like I said b4, YOU dont get to decide what another ethnic group considers offensive.
2) if you dont think Italians were discriminated against, you need to do some reading. AND it still persists in many areas of the country.
3) interesting your indignation at someone "daring" to equate their ethnic slur to blacks ethnic slur. Are you/they special? only blacks get to be offended? Can jews be offended by their slurs? did they suffer enuf on your dopey scale? how about Gays? Or just blacks?

see?

If you are so angry write
NJGuido.com
and dozens of other sites donr by Italian Americans where they use that word to describe themselves.

thank u for numbering ur comments so i can make u an idiot on 3 points...

right. I ususally don't shoot down, but I'll make an exception.

I dont get to decide what THEY consider offensive but I get to decide what term I choose to use and if some blonde or short guy or lefty or other miority doesnt like it they can shove it, especially if my intent was harmless, u see WORDS in it of themselves are harmless,

well go to bensenhurst & start "affectionately" then calling the guys guidos. or go to 125th street in harlem, and start calling the peeps "my niggas". affectionately, without malice. let me know how it turns out. what a dweeb.

I didnt say italians werent discriminated against, i said that nowadays it isnt much of an issue, not anymore than any other semi minority group is..everyone who hates people will find a reason to hate em, thats life but dont act like people are getting turned down from jobs because their last name is Russo...

believe what you will. There's alot of EYE-Talians in S. Carolina & Texas who'll tell you different.

And lastly u shmuck [note from Phungu2: Fuck you asswipe] YES i will equate hate and discrimination u fool [note from Phungu2: Fuck you asswipe] , a black person cant realy hide his minority status, however if u saw me unless i divulged more information u would have no clue how to catagorize me ethnically...so YES moron [note from Phungu2: Fuck you asswipe] , although many peoples have suffered through history, its basically gays blacks and some other visible groups that retain the hate nowadays...

OK. I think I got it now. blacks & gays & "some other visible groups" are allowed to be offended, nobody else.

You are so fucking clueless its laughable. your ignorance as to anyone elses plight(s) other than your own is narcissistic & simple-minded. You once again annoint yourself as the arbitor of what can be deemed offensive or evidence of hate. ask some Jews if they aren't the subject of hate crimes all around the world in the 21st century. but its not you, not black, not gay, so it doesnt count.

oh...no... wait, if they have real big semetic noses, maybe that would make them "visible" & thus qualify under The "J" Unified Theory Of Acceptable Victims Of Predjudice.

what a jackass.

read my last response. blacks get to refer to themselves as niggers. you dont. italians get to refer to themselves as guidos/zips/whatever. you dont. seems like a pretty straight-forward concept to grasp.

one of the funniest episodes of hbo's 'curb your enthusiasm," which stars and is written by larry david of seinfeld fame, included an scene in which a black dude who likes larry calls him 'my nigger' and larry, in turn, calls him 'my caucasian.' hey, satire is satire!!!!!!!!!!!!!
