View Full Version : Should there be a daily post cap?

I am not trying to be too catty here, but when someone posts as many messages in one month as other people do in 5 years, there is something seriously wrong with this board. I never thought I would suggest this, but should there be a daily post cap on this board of say 25 posts? I mean I was bitching at that Spedius guy for pushing down all meaningful posts with his spam, but this is worse. Now it is almost impossible to have a meaningful post or to know which one is worth reading.

Kelly - you are a little crazy posting 40+ posts a day on average. Since you usually don't post on weekends, that is more like 60+ posts a day for the days you have posted. It's really over-the-top. I've been taking a look and see approach, but you know most of what you post is meaningless nonsense. It's a sickness.

I do think you have been welcomed by this community, but fucking A.

No. I think the board users have done a good job of shutting down chatterboxes. No need to involve the mods or bbc

I dont really like the idea of a post cap because what if your in a debate with someone and you have to stop all of a sudden cause of a post cap. Then again it would prevent hijacking of threads and enforce more a chat approach. Its got its advantages and disadvantages really

Vicki, I think a better approach is what you use on your board: a flood control to prevent posting in quick succession. Maybe this would give some folks a pause in replying so quickly to posts so that we get 27 pages of "you said" "no you said" "did not" "did too" "yo momma" etc.

Kelly, I know a huge percentage of your posts come from arguing with people who, very often, are beating a dead horse or just trying to ruffle your feathers. I understand your wanting to respond to them, but perhaps you should let more of them slide. Don't feed the trolls. The board community will better respect you for it, and while you may have needed to establish yourself in your first month or so on the board, you probably don't any more.

Co-sign on that and Kelly why don't you start your own blog? You can do them free and easily - then you can chat about what your goldfish had for supper - and those interested can subsribe to it, link to it, etc.

seanchai lol Sean if you say so..I think I'm just used to a different forum style. We talk about anything and everything. It keeps the place hopping and busy. Like I said if you don't like my threads you don't have to partake in them, and you don't. So why complain about it.

And most people that are complaining about my threads are well in the older age braquett people around my age or younger respond to the threads. Thats all I'm saying.

In my opinion, limiting the daily number of posts by any user is a mistake. Yes, this forum has certain members who might be posting too frequently – their every post serving as a cautionary tale as to why you shouldn’t let your kid eat lead paint – but there are also members who have posted frequently that actually are interesting. To my way of thinking, it all balances out. Besides, the lead paint types usually end up alienating the community at large anyway, which ends up taking care of the problem in its own way.

I tried to raise this in a thread 2 days ago, without mentioning names, but it was pulled. Do a google search with the initials n.p.d. and see what you think.

narcissistic personality disorder, attention seeking, arrogance, grandiosity, self-importance, malignant self-love.

Hmm..... I think BINGO

Despite thinking certain poeple hijack the whole forum with the latest piece of
banality that pops into their mind, l don't think there should there be a daily post cap.

I think everyone here is really concerned with the high volume of topics you post. I honestly don't think you need to post a new topic for every thought you have in your head. I think you enjoy the attention though. It must be something you're not use to getting in the real world. And "No", I wasn't trying to insult you. I'm just trying to figure you out.

"meaningless nonsense" it may like that too you but it may interest someone else, who dictates what is meaningless here sure you can say this is a forum dedicated to pics and vids but if you go down that route you might as well say that every post that doesn't include some sort of porn meaningless here.

Some can say the countess number of penis threads are meaningless nonsense and could irrate someone, to fix this you have to ask yourself what is this forum really about do you want it strictly porn oriented or do you want a mixture.

I suggest they make another section labeled off topic because general discussion can dicate anything.

I was told from a mod something ago if i wanted to talk about videogames i should go to a videogame forum but doesn't general chit-chat includes anything.

I agree with Vicki too. I don't want to limit Kelly's right to free speech, but I haven't posted in a while, because I can't get engaged in any threads because there are too many of them and too many insubstantial messages in them. Threads I have posted in or planned to post in are pushed so far down they get the bends.
I don't think there needs to be a post cap per se, but how about a limit on new topics? or something else. or maybe Kelly could limit her public posts to the topic and have the banter back and forth in private messages? Its a discussion forum, not a chat room.

Well, lady, you are very well known as a "board dictator", and it's not a secret. Just have a look @ your own forums. One have to register just in order to browse through the threads, you have some kind of super secret forum things (kind of discriminating), then you have those "moderator" guys who are sometimes banning the people at free will just because they think differently, who are locking the threads because their own opinion tells them to do so and even tend to expose private information about people publicly.

How can such a non-professional board moderator suggest things to some more professional moderators? I just don't see the logic :-)

One thing is maybe meaningful to you, but another thing is meaningful to people like Spedius. Be more tolerant, that's all i'm trying to say.

This whole capping post is ridiculous who would decide which post are meaningless that would have to make the mods bias, example(nothing against these posters)

"My hand is a porn star"

"I'm about to SUCK on this"

"Your most Recent Drunk Pic""

You truly can't say those type of posts are meaningful over someone asking a simple question or stating how they feel who would judge such posts i'm sure the mods wouldn't like to be in that predicament.

Personally I don't care how many posts anyone makes in a day. If I don't want to read a thread or a post I skip it. It has no effect on my life so I care less. Putting a cap on the number of daily posts per person seems like a lot of work for no real reason. Just my two cents.

A cap on posts or on threads created?

Good question, NYCe. I would certainly limit the number of new threads per user per day if it were up to me, if not the number of posts per user, becuase I think that a hundred new threads a day makes your job as a mod more difficult and means we have to wade through all these threads to find something of interest. New threads also tend to drown out some of the more interesting or worthwhile stuff that's out there, ergo the need for bumping up older threads to ensure they're read by all (such as threads making announcements or having links to petitions or to interesting facts).

Actually, I think you'll find that the postaholics also tend to create a shitload of new threads. The handful of people who post 10 or more (and in some cases 20 to 30) posts per day on average also tend to create 5 or 6 new threads.

You can also look at the quality and content of those posts. In the cases of serial posters, you're looking at posts that add little new. Sometimes they contain a few pics but usually it's just a comment of a sentence or two.

Is that wrong? I don't know. You could say that some of these people have added a lot to the forums. But 30 posts a day is just too much. Even a dozen posts a day is too much, in my book.

Maybe an announcement or a sticky post by the mods would help to make serial posters aware of the need to go easy on posts. I would suggest that to you. See what happens when the mods politely ask people to keep the number of posts they make to (say) less than 10 and the number of threads they create to less than (for example) 5 a day. If that doesn't work, and only then, could you act to limit the number of posts.

There's been a lot of turmoil on these boards recently and a lot of arguments. I know you guys have a tough job, but I think we need your guidance sometimes. People here will listen to you for several reasons- firstly we like you; secondly, we respect you; thirdly, you make the rules so we don't really have a choice. Sticky announcements sure would help.

Hello Vickie, unfortunately I am unable to check out HA on a daily basis due to work obligations. I am so impressed with your perceptive and insightful view on the many topics discussed here. I was particularily amused, and can completely relate to your thoughts about ass hair.
I am totally enthralled, attracted to, appreciative, etc...of T-Girls-big time!, but, alas I am married. I am a very fit and meticulously groomed 42 year old man. My problem is that my wife likes me au natural, while I prefer as do my T-Girl lovers, for me to be clean, or well manscaped. I feel so much sexier witha smooth tush. My wife has questioned my sexuality when I come home after having an ass waxing. I explain to her that it makes me feel clean and comfortable. I think she is not buying it.
I am way overdue for a session with a T-Girl and I really take a lot of time and consideration into my pre-date preparation. My wife recently made me promise to not trim myself too tightly, let alone completely, but I am so excited about getting ready for my session, which by the way I have not set up as of yet. I am still researching prospective providers. Keep up the intellegence and humor. You are truly a delight, and would love to make your aquaintence one day.
Warm regards,
Adam

It's amazing someone can say things meaningfully at only 1 post per day average. ;-)

I say wax that bitch... your ass I mean.

Kelly will not use a blog section or if she does it will still not slow her postings. She craves human interraction.

I have given this some thought and have an idea: a retarded poster's section. Under the proposed solution, any poster who goes crazy and posts endless streams of completely vacuous tripe would get relegated to posting in the retarded poster's section only. Then, the retards could fascinate one another with great posts like:

1. Why is the water so wet today?
2. I like bunnies, do you?
3. Why does sticking my hand in a pot of boiling water burn me?
4. An exciting poll on whether anyone has slept in the last 48 hours.
5. My dog hasn’t moved in a week and isn’t breathing, do you think it’s dead?

Think about the wonderful, special education-level conversations they can have with one other. Best of all, the rest of us don't have to be bothered by having to sort through their nonsense – unless we are in need of a laugh.

NYCe, hollywoodbuckstrap - moderators of quality.
Smart suggestions, but still democratic and fair.

They'll never act like some crazy cute dictators around ;-)

And dude - your sence of choosing the nice avatar is simply gorgeous.

P.S.

Kelly Shore, i'm in loved..
And Vicki also loves you (trust me on that), that's why she's bashing you that much :-)

This person sounds a lot like some other poster in disguise...

I don't think she is dissing me, it's just I am used to other forum boards. All of us post this much. And have conversations like it were a 'chatroom' as Felecia stated. As I said before though a lot of the threads that are made that I respond to or write in were made by other authors about me. I can't help that.............And some of my quote unquote convos you think are meaningless a lot of people responded in..go look them up the proof is there I need not argue about it. Some people like just answering simple questions to get to know one another. Just because it doesn't suit your fancy and isn't about sex doesn't mean it's useless. Just because it's not about some famous transexual doing something for the community or transitioning in some buttfuck egypt city doesn't mean it's not kosher or worthwhile to someone else. General means about everything, and most people respond to my threads.

I don't find posting silly pictures that are supposed to mean something "meaningful"
I don't find delivering one liners to make fun of someone "meaningful"
I don't find making fun of someone "meaningful"
Also I personally don't like to respond to a thread that has a 5 page start out in the first post alone. Who wants to read all that...no offense to anyone.
I also don't find it attractive or amusing trying to battle wits with the whole "I'm smarter than you are" It's boring to me also.

I can have complaints too lol
But again to each their own. RIGHT?

Fairly shitty... Fortunately, I still haven’t developed the feeling of being intensely tired that usually accompanies Mono. I do, however, have the reoccurring fevers, swollen glands, and sore throats – though not nearly as bad as before. First thing I’m doing when this passes is take a month or two to travel because I feel completely stir crazy from being stuck in my apartment at this point (I've already had to cancel two trips abroad. Ouch!). Still, it could be a hell of a lot worse, so I can't really complain.

Thanks for asking, Hollywood.

No need at all for blogs. Every girl here(that would blog) already has a 'Myspace' with a perfectly good blog facility. Users and 'friends' on Myspace can choose to 'subscribe' to a girls blog and thus recieve mail updates notifying of each fascinating utterance. some girls use thier blogs to bicker or promote each other, it's all good and I subscribe to a few. If I want a dose of Good ol' TS Soap Opera then I'll read the Myspace blogs. This is definately the place for in, Jericho's words, vapid, vacuous and vacant posting.

Wish there was a cap. Some of the threads the past month have been, well, fucking boring. Sorry to be so harsh but maybe some people on here need a hobby rather than just this site. Desperation sets in for threads to be created and the end result is boring crap that I wouldn't even think about let alone talk about.

I like to contribute to subjects of interest but lately nothing has been interesting. People are so far off topic that the site has veered away from the content that should be spoken about. It would be nice to see certain topics removed if they don't pertain to Hung Angels. Just my opinion. I'm sure some will bitch about it.

How can such a non-professional board moderator suggest things to some more professional moderators?

Um...Because it's her board? OK, that's just a guess.

To Quinn:

Best medicine for you, guy: Heckler + Koch + Squirrel.

I'd even pay for the brass (Damned rodents!).

To the hobby thing:

To some of us HA is far from a hobby, it is a life/lifestyle. Sorry if my being an emotional cripple is a problem for y'all, but my last 'lover' turned on me like a rabid dog and drove me to hermitism. Sometimes, the solitude is a blessing while at others it is a definite curse. While I have some disdain at being around people I also tend to crave interaction of some sort (That doesn't necessarily involve the '...slippery friction of mucus membranes...' - Heinlein).

But really, Jeezuschristinnafuckingsidecaronskiis, can we have a little substance?

Kelly, I'm not shootin' at you, dear, but you have been one of the recent sinners (But not the only one) in this craze. I'm not for post caps at all (Hell, on a good nite, I'll launch as many as twenty on any given forum), but the what-I-did-today threads have reached their limit. For all of my 3000 +/- posts on HA, I don't think I've created more than a half-dozen threads (And I'm sure that there are people voting me to sainthood because of that - You know where to send the checks  ).

Someone ressurect the breakfast thread and lets all migrate there for some bacon 'n biscuits. I'm sure we can work this out. :)
