What say you about the quality of your service? I use SunRocket and it's pretty much as reliable as standard phone service. Of course, the power has never gone out where I live so that would make a huge difference.

Paid $199 dollars for 15 months last August. Got all the stuff like call waiting, ID etc and a free 2.4 Gig dual handset cordless phone. All in all, pretty kick ass.

I actually have two VOIP carriers (it's a long story).

One is Vonage, the other is Broadvoice. Broadvoice let's you
BYOD (bring your own device) but their customer service is
poor.

Vonage has good support, but no BYOD.

I am doing wi-fi VOIP on the road, along with having VOIP with a
conventional phone at home.

That along with a quad band cellular phone enables me to reach
out and touch from anyplace in the world.

VOIP is still embyonic technology and needs to mature, but
overall it's pretty cool.

Hm, I had always wondered about VOIP but never knew anyone who used it.

I used Skype last fall when I was in Canada for a month. I got a 10 dollar phone on Ebay and it worked like a champ. Much better than paying 25 cents a min to use my cell phone.

My two cents: So far as cost is concerned,VOIP is a complete no brainer, especially where long distance is concerned. So far as quality is concerned, it's only marginally inferior (most people will probably not even notice).
