I was a dial-up user uintil 3 months ago when I upgraded to cable. A whole lot faster now. It used to take HOURS to download vids of any length. Now, I can multitask my downloads. I am feeling the power now. LOL

This why I use DSL. There's only so fast the servers can dish up the content. FIOS has the potential to be pretty kick ass, though.

While downstream is faster on FIOS than I had on cable, the difference is not night-and-day. However, upstream is indeed much faster, and as a webmaster who works from home, I need that upstream benefit. Perhaps as much as 40% of my activity is upstream, whereas most home users are 95% downstream. And the price is very close to what I was paying for cable.

this technically advanced mofo here uses a G3 modem card with his thinkpad provided by vodafone which gets me speeds at 7.2 Mbit/sec, right in the middle of a cornfield

I've been on Cable at home for almost 9 years now, but I remember my Dial Up days all to well. Many nights of "click on link, go get a drink, maybe the page'll be half-way done when I get back".
