It all depends on the person.

If you are really interested I'd say hold out, but 3 dates is about the max for me. After two you start to question whether this is worth the time. This isn't the 50's. If you do hold out, by the second date you know whether this is worth pursuing or just having sex (as in a fuck-n-forget.)

It depends. Sometimes it'll actually click immediately, before a formal date (say at a party or in a disco) but this'll rarely lead to any kind of long term relationship. I'm not into one night stands anymore.

Usually the average will be 3-5, depending on how things go. Sometimes the dates will lead nowhere of course, and on some occasions they'll help to establish a friendship but there won't be any sex at all involved.

In any case I want to get to know a girl and want to estabish some kind of mutual respect- it's not just about sexual attraction. When you reach 30 you have to think about settling down and a one nighter or a knee trembler in the toilets or behind the wheelie bins isn't going to lead to that.
