I miss the "Miss'. :(

Pardon me, I'm having an Andy Rooney moment.

Way back in the day, before transitioning, people would say
"hey pal, do you have the time" or "yes Sir, how may I help
you"

As I became androgynous and dwelled in the 'Twilight Zone'
of gender on the "Outer Limits, during that time I might get
a "Sir" or a "Miss"

It was all very, hit or miss, so to speak :?

Then as the Doctors, the hormones, and time performed
their magic, it became predominantly, "exscuse me Miss, but
what's your name", or "Miss may I have this dance".

Now as I have aged it has become "Mamn, how may I help you",
or if I am on a bus or a train, it's "Mamn would you like a seat"..

Then sometimes if I am climbing a flight of stairs with a lot of stuff,
and pause to catch my breath, people will say "Mamn are you alright",
like they think I am going to 'stroke out'.

Now believe me I appreciate the respect and concern that growing
older has offered me. And I most assuredly prefer being addressed
as "Mamn" and not that dreaded 'S' word.

And no I don't wish I was younger, for with age has come wisdom,
something that I sorely lacked in my youthful days.

But there are many times, I miss the "Miss'.

Sometimes, I called older women Miss and enjoy the pleasure they seem to get from it. Now, I also once called a woman who looked a lot like Janet Reno Sir. It was very embarrassing.

You got me laughing and crying at the same time.

Cause, I'm one of those broads that would get a kick
from a Miss instead of the Mamn.

However, if somebody gave me a 'Sir' it would be them
who would get a kick, to the throat - still limber for an old
broad.

By the by, the pictures you see of me are 6 - 9 months old,
so I am not quite ready for Geritol or the 'dirt nap'.

well My grandmother raised me to call anyone older than me Mr. Ms. etc. So out of habit i call women Miss, even if they're only a year or two older than me. I do it my g/f, who's 2 year my senoir, and she hates its cause it makes her feel old :P. glad to see a woman who actually likes the polite stuff every once and awhile

You guys are so sweet, good manners
do go a long way with me. 8)

As for me, by virtue of having been in the militiary,
having been raised in a Southern tradition, and having
worked in the corporate world, I definetely am one to
address people as Sir or Miss, Ms, or Mamn.
