Fantastic movie based on the novel by P.D. James's novel The Children of Men. Just saw and I must say its one of the most entertaining movies I've seen in months.

Has anyone else seen it?

NYCE, you seem to have very good tastes in movies. 8)

Indeed the "The Children of Men' is on my 'to-see' list when
it becomes avaiible on Netflix.

I have read a number of reviews of the movie and it seems
an intriquing premise.

Haven't seen it yet, maybe tomarrow. Looks pretty damn good.

What I don't get is why would everyone go bananas if people couldn't have kids anymore? It would be a good deal, in my opinion. World hunger would diminish every year, people wouldn't be so caught up in trying to leave some sort of legecy or something, it would be like a hundred year or so long global party.

It would also drive the health and science communities to focus 100% on longevity. Curing cancer or whatever wouldn't mean much if the whole species was just going to die off anyways.

And we could have sex and violence in video games. We could get away with anything. . . if it weren't for those meddling kids :!:

But yeah, looks like a good flick.

I heard this movie was pretty good. You know Clive Owen turned down the role of 007 in Casino Royale to do Children of Men? 3 other awesome movies are Deja Vu, The Departed, and The Prestige. I havent seen this many good movies in a very long time.

Not to give away too much of the movie but a big underlying theme is the whole apathy that develops from the knowledge that the race is dying out.
In the novel people become completely disinterested in sex to the point where pornography centers need to be opened in order to get people back into having sex.

I thought the movie was amazing. The scary thing about the movie is that the way things are going in our world today (sadly enough). I could see our world turning into that hellhole (not the infertility so much) but everything else.

If you thought the book was good, then you should read the book "A Childhood's End" by the guy who wrote 2001 (cannot remember his name). great book short read.

I didn't get around to seeing it yesterday, might put it off until next week, but everyone is saying it's just awesome.

I'm also looking forward to seeing Pan's Labyrinth as well. Heard nothing but good things about it. My only worry is that it's Del Toro directing it. His movies always have a brilliant look and feel to them, but the stories themselves, in my opinion, are kinda boring.

He did come up with one of the best film titles of all time, though. "The Devil's Backbone". It's hard to beat that.

Just on a movie theme, check out "The Heart is Deceitful Above All Things" by Asia Argento (daughter of Dario). It's amazing.

I finally saw this today. Brilliant, one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. It's hard to describe just how fucking well constructed this film is.

Just go see it.

There's a hand held tracking sequence near the end that is pretty much impossible to explain. So much stuff going on, so many people involved, pyro explosions going off, and as far as I can tell from the first viewing, it's all one shot.

That doesn't seem possible, but the director did a fricken amazing job with it. Great overall story, too.

Loved the damn thing. For all the hype it's gotten, it is a bit slow at the start. Once you see the flaming car rolling down the hill (you'll know what I'm talking about), it's game time after that.

Intense movie. Nearly perfect.
