I've meant to post about Black Kiss for years. Notwithstanding the brilliance of the work and superb art, Dagmar is THE comic art image of a hung angel in my opinion. If you have only a passing interest in comics its well worth seeking out - probably best in its reprinted book format 'Big Black Kiss' A film should really be made of it, and it would be a fantastic opportunity for a TS adult actress to cross into the mainstream.

Frank Miller ? Yes great, but Chaykin was plunging Noir depths before.

I've never heard mention of it on hungangels, but I know some comics fans and professionals hang out here.

Below is a wiki reference to Black Kiss, but really it doesnt make enough of Dagmar.

Chaykin is the man...his work on new avengers recently was awesome...his Cap looks sweet...i gotta admit frank miller and chaykin are pretty similar but miller has definately fallen off as of late (anyone who has read All Star Batman knows EXACTLY what i mean) while Chaykin still rocks.

Yow! It's been ages since I've seen Chaykin's work. My last brush was when American Flagg was just hitting its stride (1990?). I once considered attending a party in Plexus Ranger dress whites. :D

Gotta love a series where the sidekick is a talking cat (My favorite line was when some thug approached Raul saying "Here, kitty-kitty" and the cat responded with a burst of gunfire and the words "'Kitty-kitty' my ass!" ).

well as the wiki article points out, the sex in Black Kiss is the sex hinted at in American Flagg :-)

I always thought (at the time) that Dagmar was the spitting image of Sherri O'Neal, a girl who escorted in San Diego at that time (and had done a couple of movies, but I can only find this one...)

There was a Dagmar who was an "actress" in the late 50's/early 60's. Tall blonde with huge tits. She used to balance full champagne glasses on her boobs on the old "Playboy" tv show Hugh Hefner did then.

I actually have a hard-cover version of Black Kiss. Found it in a store in NYC about, what, 10 years ago or so.

I forgot all about that.

Black Kiss was a great read. Shame it isn't out in graphic novel anymore.

Ha

I posted this ages ago and didnt think anyone was interested. Everything about Black Kiss is excellent, and I think it was an incredibly brave work to publish

I used to have a great poster for Black Kiss. It was a back shot of a girl in a short skirt and fishnets. One of the neat touches was that film stock was used to clip the hose and it was all in black in blue.

Loved this series as a youth. At the time, I didn't even acknowledge all the levels I was enjoying it on ...

I protect my issues of 'American Flagg' with my LIFE!!!

Fuck Spiderman, when's American Flagg gonna be made into a movie??

Chaykin is sooo underrated as a storyteller/artist, I put him right up there with Frank Miller.

Needless to say, 'Black Kiss' wasn't on the shelves at my local comic book store, I have to track it down.

Chaykin is far better than Miller.

If for no other reason, he didn't go insane.

For the other, because he's a superior visual storyteller.

On the topic at hand, with the move/return to adaption/"parody"/story porn, I'd love to see She Male market explore that area rather than just the direct "let's have sex" stuff and was thinking not too long ago, a Black Kiss adaption would be great. (Perhaps starring Jesse..she's got the right look I think)

Incidentally, Black Kiss II is now through two issues of its six-issue run with Image Comics. How dirty is it? Dirty enough that it's been banned in Britain and Canada:

I'm enjoying it so far.

Final issue just went on sale; gets nice and dirty at the end. Dagmar, in particular, has a satisfyingly contemporary new look. Reminds me of Danni Daniels, a bit.
